Killeen Police Investigate a Homicide on Green Avenue

On Monday, June 1, 2020, at approximately 5:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of W. Green Avenue in reference to a 911 about a gunshot victim.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male suffering with a gunshot wound.  Officers started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived.  He was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Medical Center in critical condition.    

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and a male acquaintance were involved in a verbal altercation that became physical.   During the altercation, the two males struggled over a handgun when the gun went off, striking the victim.   

The victim, Christopher McWhoter, 35, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate this case and information will be released as it becomes available.
