Suspect Arrested in Triple Homicide

Update – August 28, 2020

Through investigation, detectives with the Killeen Police Department Homicide Unit identified a suspect in this case.  On August 20, 2020, this case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging Barnard Lnell Morrow, 21, with Capital Murder of Multiple Persons.  A warrant for Morrow’s arrest was issued by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke on August 20, 2020 with a suggested bond amount of two million dollars.

Killeen Police and members of the US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, in their attempt to locate Morrow found that he had fled the City of Killeen and could potentially be in Newton, MS.  Assistance was requested from the US Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF) in locating Morrow.

On August 28, 2020, at approximately 6:00 a.m., members of the GCRFTF arrested Morrow in the 1600 block of Pecan Rd., Newton, MS, without incident.  Morrow was transported to the Lauderdale County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to Bell County.

The Killeen Police Department would like to thank the US Marshals for their assistance in apprehending Morrow.

“The department wishes to express its condolences to the family and friends of the victims of this tragedy.  I wish to thank our officers and detectives for their dedicated service in reaching a conclusion in this investigation,” Killeen Police Chief Charles Kimble.

UPDATE – March 17, 2020

The three victims have been identified as Asia Cline, 22, Shaquan Markell Allred, 23, and Freddy Beningo Delacruz Jr., 23.

Killeen Police Investigate a Triple Homicide.

On Saturday, March 14, 2020, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Killeen Police were dispatched to the Summerlyn Apartments located at 4101 E. Rancier Avenue in reference to shots fired call.  Officers’ checked the area and were unable to locate the source.  At approximately 1:40 a.m. officers received another call, in reference to a water leak coming from one apartment leading to another. Upon investigation of the source of the water leak officers found an unlocked apartment and attempted to contact the tenant. Officers upon entry to the apartment located three victims deceased, having gunshot wounds.

The victims, two males and one female in their early twenties were pronounced deceased at 2:46 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Daryl Peters.  He ordered autopsies to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.  The investigation is ongoing, and names of the victims will not be released pending next of kin notification.

Killeen Police Search for Missing Person

The Killeen Police Department is currently investigating the report of a missing person.  We are asking the community if anyone has seen a missing soldier who has not been heard from by his family since Monday, August 17, 2020.

Family members of Elder Fernandez, 23, reported to officers on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 that he was last seen by his Staff Sergeant on Monday afternoon when he dropped him off at his residence located in the 2700 block of Woodlands Drive in Killeen. 

Elder Fernandez is approximately 5’4” tall and weighs approximately 133 pounds. He was last seen wearing black army PT shorts and t-shirt with red athletic shoes.

Killeen Police Investigate a Fatal Crash on State Highway 195

On Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at approximately 6:51 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of State Highway 195 and Chaparral Road in reference a 911 call about a major crash involving a white Toyota Corolla and a silver Chevrolet Malibu.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Malibu was traveling northbound on SH 195 in the outside lane approaching the intersection, when the Corolla, that was traveling southbound on SH 195, turned left at the intersection, through the crossover, in an-attempt to cross the northbound lanes onto Chaparral.  The driver of the Corolla failed to yield right of way to the Malibu, causing the Malibu to strike the Corolla’s right passenger side.  The impact caused the Corolla to rotate to the northeast corner of the intersection into the grassy area, rolling onto its top and coming to a rest.  The Malibu also traveled to the northeast corner and came to a stop in the grassy area. The three occupants in the Corolla were transported to Baylor Scott & White in critical condition and the driver of the Malibu was also transported to Baylor Scott & White in stable condition. 

One of the passengers in the Toyota, Dade Michael Neujahr, 23, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace GW Ivey at approximately 7:54 p.m.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this fatality and information will be released as it becomes available.

Killeen Police Investigate a Motorcycle Fatality on FM 3470

On Wednesday, August 12, 2020, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:29 p.m. to the intersection of FM  3470 and Oak Valley Drive in reference to a crash involving a motorcycle.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located an unresponsive male lying in the roadway. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that a blue Suzuki GSX motorcycle was traveling southbound on FM 3470 in the inside lane approaching the intersection.  When a green Honda Civic entered the intersection attempting to turn left into a private drive, the operator of the motorcycle struck the right front of the Honda, causing him to be ejected.  The operator, Corey Dean Reed Jr., 28, was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin at 10:10 p.m.  The operator of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this fatality and information will be released as it becomes available.

Killeen Police Conducts Child Prostitution Operation

On Saturday, August 8, 2020, the Killeen Police Department Special Victim’s Unit in partnership with the Texas Department of Public Safety Human Trafficking Program, concluded a two-day child prostitution sting.  The overall goal of this joint effort was to locate and arrest subjects who were willing to make overt efforts to pay minors to engage in sexual acts.  During this operation nine suspects, three of whom are military, contacted officers through various social media platforms and made agreements for sexual acts with girls they believed were 15 or 16 years of age.  These agreements were for fees that included money, drugs, and/or alcohol.  The suspects were apprehended without incident when they arrived at a predetermined location. 

The operation concluded with seven felony prostitution charges, two misdemeanor prostitution charges, and two guns were confiscated.
