The Killeen Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit reviewed this case with the Bell County District Attorney’s Office. A Complaint and Affidavit were presented to Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson on May 6th, 2026, and an Arrest Warrant for Murder was issued on 47-Year-Old Charlie Leon Waldon. On May 14th, 2026 Waldon was located in Pittsburg County Oklahoma and placed under arrest by the Pittsburg County Sheriffs Office. Waldon was arrested at the jail as he was attempting to bail out his girlfriend. Waldon is awaiting extradition back to Bell County.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division’s Robbery-Homicide Unit continue to actively investigate this case.

Killeen, TX (March 12, 2026): The Killeen Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that resulted in one deceased victim.
On Thursday, March 12, 2026, at approximately 9:12 a.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of N. Gray Street in reference to a 911 call reporting a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious male outside of a residence. Killeen EMS responded to the scene and confirmed the male showed no signs of life.
Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson pronounced the victim, 37-year-old Christopher Gillespey, deceased at 9:25 a.m. and ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was inside his residence when he was shot and exited the home, where he collapsed outside.
The Killeen Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, Robbery-Homicide Unit, is actively investigating this case. Detectives are asking residents and businesses in the area to review their surveillance cameras for any individuals in the vicinity around the time of the shooting.
Killeen Police Investigate Shooting in 5800 block of Siltstone Lp
On May 25, 2026, at approximately 11:58 p.m., officers with the Killeen Police Department responded to a shooting investigation in the 5800 block of Siltstone Loop.
Preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect fired shots into a residence where a party was taking place. Three individuals sustained minor injuries believed to be caused by ricocheting gunfire. All three individuals refused medical treatment from Killeen EMS at the scene.
When officers arrived, they encountered numerous individuals at the location who were uncooperative with the investigation. At this time, the incident appears to be isolated and targeted toward the residence. No suspects have been identified.
Detectives are asking anyone in the area with surveillance or camera footage related to the incident to submit it using the attached QR code.

Killeen Police Traffic Unit Conducts Railroad Crossing Safety Detail
Killeen, TX (May 8, 2026): On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit conducted a Railroad Crossing Safety Detail from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to promote traffic safety and educate drivers on the importance of obeying railroad crossing laws.
During the enforcement detail, officers conducted eleven traffic stops resulting in multiple enforcement actions for violations related to railroad crossing safety and other observed traffic infractions.
The following violations were observed during the detail:
• Stopped too close to the railroad tracks — 6
• Stopped on the railroad tracks — 4
• Disregard of railroad crossing signal — 1
The purpose of the detail was to increase awareness of railroad crossing laws, enhance public safety, and reduce the risk of vehicle versus train collisions. The presence of officers in the area also served as a visible deterrent to unsafe driving behaviors near railroad crossings.
The Killeen Police Department reminds motorists to always obey railroad crossing signals, never stop on railroad tracks, and remain alert when approaching railroad crossings.

Killeen Police Arrest Two People Involved in Crash on Interstate 14
Killeen, TX (December 11, 2025) – UPDATE: Through the ongoing investigation, officers determined that there were four occupants inside the Mustang at the time of the crash. Evidence showed that immediately after the crash, the driver, a 20-year-old-male and one of the rear passengers, a 18-year-old female, switched seats and falsely reported to officers that the female had been driving.
As part of the investigation, officers were able to verify the actual seating positions of all occupants and confirm the deception. During these follow-up efforts, officers received complaints related to the incident. The male driver was charged with False Report to a Peace Officer and Driving While License Invalid-Subsequent and the female passenger was charged with False Report to a Peace Officer. Both individuals are currently in the Killeen City Jail awaiting arraignment.
The motorcyclist remains in critical condition.
The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this crash. No further information is available at this time.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE MOTORCYCLE CRASH ON INTERSTATE 14
Killeen, TX (December 10, 2025): A 41-year-old male motorcyclist is in critical but stable condition following a crash involving a vehicle
On December 9, 2025, at approximately 2:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to Interstate 14 regarding a crash involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival, officers located the motorcycle operator lying in the roadway. He was immediately airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in critical but stable condition.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a Suzuki motorcycle and a Ford Mustang were both traveling eastbound on I-14 at high rates of speed. Witnesses reported the motorcycle was weaving in and out of traffic and passing vehicles between lanes. At the time of the crash, the Mustang was moving into the inside lane from the center lane after passing another vehicle. The motorcycle was reportedly passing the same uninvolved vehicle between the lanes when the two involved vehicles sideswiped one another, causing the motorcycle to lose control and crash.
No injuries were reported from the Mustang.
All eastbound lanes of Interstate 14 were closed for approximately two hours.

Killeen Police Identify Deceased Victim
Killeen, TX (November 3, 2025) UPDATE: The Killeen Police Department has identified the 25-year-old victim as Vincent Abenoyap Mbo, of Killeen.
The suspect remains in stable condition.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE AN OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
Killeen, TX (November 2, 2025): The Killeen Police Department is actively investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the 6300 block of Blake Street.
On Sunday, November 2, 2025, at approximately 3:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Blake Street in reference to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers observed a male running out of a residence who advised them that another person inside had been shot. While officers were conducting their investigation, shots were fired toward them from inside the residence.
The Killeen Police Tactical Response Unit was deployed and arrived on scene. SWAT officers breached the door and discovered a 25-year-old male victim lying near the entrance, suffering from gunshot wounds. As officers attempted to remove the victim to render aid, the suspect, a 36-year-old male, continued to fire at officers. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect. The suspect was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in stable condition.
Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The officer involved, a four-year veteran of the department, has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with department policy.
The Killeen Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is conducting the investigation into this incident. The department’s Internal Affairs Unit will handle the administrative review. The Bell County District Attorney’s Office is also assisting.
This investigation is active and there is no additional information at this time.

Killeen Police Officer Identified in Assault Case
Killeen, TX (July 30, 2025) UPDATE: The Killeen Police Officer, Isaiah Guerrero, was arraigned on July 29, 2025, by Justice of the Peace Susan Criss and set his bond at $10,000. Guerrero has been with the Department since January of 2022 and is assigned to the Patrol Division.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT WITH BODILY INJURY
Killeen, TX (July 30, 2025): The Killeen Police Department received notification that a Killeen Police Officer turned himself in to the Bell County Jail on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, for an outstanding warrant for Assault with Bodily Injury – Family Member. The arrest was a result of an off-duty incident investigated by the Temple Police Department.
The Killeen Police Department has opened an Internal Affairs investigation, and the officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome. As a Civil Service agency, the Department is required to follow the local Civil Service Rules, which outline due process procedures for handling misconduct allegations, including those related to an employee’s pay status during the investigation.

Murder Suspect Located and Arrested
Killeen, TX (June 4, 2025) UPDATE: The 35-year-old murder suspect has been arrested and is currently in the Bell County Jail.
On Monday, June 2, 2025, Cecil Tamez Jr. was located in the 300 block of Cartwright Drive in Killeen and taken into custody. Tamez was found hiding under a mobile home and had attempted to conceal himself by burying himself in dirt. He was arrested and transported to the Killeen City Jail.
Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey arraigned Tamez on the Murder warrant and set his bond at $1,000,000. He was later transferred to the Bell County Jail.
The Killeen Police Department would like to thank the United States Marshals Service – Lone Star Fugitive Task Force for their assistance in this apprehension.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A HOMICIDE ON SUNSET STREET
Killeen, TX (May 22, 2025): The Killeen Police Department is actively investigating the death of a 28-year-old male following a stabbing incident.
On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at approximately 5:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Sunset Street in reference to a stabbing victim. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from a stab wound. Killeen Fire Department EMS responded and began life-saving measures. The victim was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The victim, Ondarien Jamaal Kelly, was pronounced deceased at 6:58 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the victim and suspect, who are acquaintances, were involved in a verbal altercation. During the dispute, the suspect grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene. This is an isolated incident.
On May 22, 2025, this case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging 35-year-old Cecil Tamez Jr. with Murder. Justice of the Peace Nicola James issued a warrant for his arrest.

Traffic Delays Expected for Funeral Procession Honoring Killeen Fire Department Captain Marvin Taylor III
Killeen, TX (May 19, 2025): On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, motorists should expect traffic delays along a portion of Interstate 14 due to the funeral procession honoring Killeen Fire Department Captain Marvin Taylor III.
The procession will begin in Copperas Cove and travel eastbound on I-14 through Killeen. It will continue onto SH 201 (Clear Creek Road) and then head southbound onto SH 195.
The procession is expected to occur between 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. and may cause intermittent delays along the route, particularly near on-ramps and intersections along I-14, SH 201, and SH 195. Drivers are encouraged to plan accordingly, use alternate routes when possible, and exercise patience and caution in the area.
We ask the public to join us in honoring Captain Taylor’s life and service by allowing the procession to pass safely and respectfully.

Killeen Police Investigate an Aggravated Robbery

Killeen, TX (December 5, 2024): Officers responded to the 5600 block of Calc Stone Drive at approximately 9:12 a.m. in reference to a shooting victim. Upon the officer arrival, the victim told officers that he was robbed at gunpoint, and his vehicle was taken. During the incident, he sustained a non life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX.
During the investigation, two suspects were located and arrested.
Detectives with the Robbery-Homicide Unit continue to actively investigate this incident and there is no additional information at this time.

Killeen Police Investigate a Shooting on Veterans Memorial Boulevard
Killeen, TX (December 5, 2024): On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at approximately 9:43 a.m., officers responded to a call in reference to two shooting victims in the 1100 block of W. Veterans Memorial Blvd. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a 66-year-old female and a 76-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers began to perform lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived.
Unfortunately, the female victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at 9:59 a.m. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
The male victim was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital and is currently listed critical condition.
There is no threat to the community related to this incident.
Detectives with the Robbery-Homicide Unit are actively investigating this incident and there is no additional information at this time.
