Killeen Police Investigate Shooting Death on Terrace Drive
The Killeen Police Department is investigating a late night Murder in the 1700 block of Terrace Dr.
Officers responded to 1701 Terrace, Terrace Heights Apartments, at 11:27pm, on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, after receiving numerous calls about shots being fired in the area of the apartments. Upon the officers arrival they located a lone black male lying in the north parking lot of the complex who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at 12:26am. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
The victim has been identified as 16 year old Emmanuel Xavier Nangah of Harker Heights. The motive for the shooting continues to be investigated.

Killeen Police Seek Identity of Suspicious Person
The Killeen Police Department is asking the community if they can identify a man seen in these photos.
The man was acting unusual while inside the Home Depot on Friday, March 21, 2014. He started asking employees several questions that were suspicious in nature and began making the employees uneasy. When the employees were unable to answer his questions, he left the store abruptly. The Killeen Police Department was contacted but Officers were unable to locate the man upon their arrival.

Killeen Police Announce Results of Traffic Enforcement Detail
The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit reviewed the area of FM 2410 and FM 3470 over the past several months and found that a high number of crashes where failure to control speed and running red lights had been the contributing factors. On Thursday, March 20, 2014, officers conducted a special traffic detail enforcing the law pertaining to running red lights.
All of the following violations occurred in the officer’s presence during the hours of 6:30am – 9:30am and 10:40am – 12:15pm.
- 151 citations were issued for Ran Red Light
- 4 citations were issued for Failure to Yield Right of Way Red Light
- 1 citations was issued for Failure to Stop at Designative Point
- 1 citation was issued for Failure to Control Speed
- 25 Non hazardous citations were issued
- 1 Commercial Motor Vehicle was cited for Failure to Secure Heavy Load
A total of 183 citations were issued for various violations, but as you can see the vast majority was those for running a red light.
There was one crash that occurred in the officer’s presence and the citation was written for Failure to Control Speed; there were no injuries reported in this crash.

Killeen Police to Conduct Traffic Enforcement Detail
The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit to conduct special red light detail.
The Killeen Police Department has reviewed the area of FM 2410 and FM 3470 over the past several months. The traffic unit has seen a high number of crashes where failure to control speed and running red lights have been the contributing factors.
On Thursday, March 20, 2014, officers will be conducting a special traffic detail in the area of FM 2410 and FM 3470 enforcing the law pertaining to running red lights.
Texas Transportation Code Sec. 544.007 Ran Red Light
(d) An operator of a vehicle facing only a steady red light shall stop at a clearly marked stop line. In the absence of a stop line, the operator shall stop before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection. A vehicle that is not turning shall remain standing until an indication to proceed is shown. After stopping, standing until the intersection may be entered safely, and yielding right-of-way to pedestrians lawfully in an adjacent crosswalk and other traffic lawfully using the intersection, the operator may:
(1) turn right.
The officers will be conducting this detail throughout the day and all violators will be cited.

Killeen Police Investigates Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Rancier Avenue
Killeen Police Department investigates a fatal motorcycle crash in the evening hours.
Officers received a 911 call on Monday, March 11, 2014, at 6:53pm, in reference to a crash involving a Yamaha motorcycle and a Dodge minivan. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located the operator of the motorcycle who was suffering with life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the black Yamaha Motorcycle was traveling east on Rancier Ave. in the inside lane, when a Maroon Dodge Caravan attempted to turn south onto Crockett. The operator of the motorcycle was unable to avoid the vehicle, causing the motorcycle to collide with the passenger side of the minivan. There were three occupants inside the minivan; one person was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene. The operator of the motorcycle, 18 year old Chase William Evans, was pronounced deceased at 7:38pm by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. The operator of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
This crash continues to be investigated by the Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit and information will be released as it becomes available.

Killeen Police Investigate Rollover Crash – Update
The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate a one vehicle rollover crash that occurred on Becker Dr., during the early morning hours on Saturday, March 8, 2014.
The crash occurred when the driver of a 2004 Land Rover Discovery that was occupied by five teenagers failed to negotiate a curve in the 1400 block of Becker Driver. The vehicle left the roadway, hit two mailboxes, overturned, ejecting two of the passengers and injuring another two passengers.
The 18 year old male passenger who was ejected, Jacob Jones, was transported to Scott & White Memorial Hospital with life threatening injuries. On Sunday, March 9, 2014, Jacob Jones succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 11:19am. The 14 year old female who was ejected is now at the Scott & White Children’s Hospital in critical condition. The 17 year old female and 14 year old female passengers were transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. The 17 year old driver was not injured in this crash.
The names of the other victims have been withheld at this time due to the nature of the injuries.
The Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate this crash and they have determined speed is one of the contributing factors. Killeen Police Investigate Rollover Crash
Killeen Police investigate an early morning crash with injuries on Becker Rd.
Officers responded to a 911 call in reference to a single vehicle rollover crash at John Rd. and Becker Rd. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 2:41 am. Officers arrived to find two people who had been ejected from the vehicle lying in the roadway and three other occupants inside a 2004 Land Rover Discovery.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the Land Rover was traveling north on Becker Rd. when the driver failed to negotiate the curve in the 1300 block of Becker, leaving the roadway and hitting two mailboxes on the eastside of the road. The vehicle continued northbound overturning and ejecting two occupants before coming to rest upright at John Rd. and Becker Rd.
The ejected male was transported to Scott and White Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The ejected female was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition and subsequently transferred to Scott and White Memorial Hospital. Two other occupants who remained in the vehicle, were transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. The driver was uninjured.
The names of the victims have been withheld at this time.
This crash continues to be investigated and more information will be released as it becomes available.

Killeen Police Investigates Shooting on Gilmer Street
Killeen Police investigate an afternoon shooting on Gilmer.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting that someone had just been shot in the 400 block of Gilmer, on Friday, March 7, 2014, at 3:22 pm. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male in the 500 block of Wyoming, who was suffering from a gunshot wound; he was transported to the Carl R Darnall Army Medical Center in stable condition.
Witnesses advised they saw two males talking in the parking lot at 420 Gilmer when they saw one male start running through the parking lot and the other male began shooting in his direction. The suspect then fled the area.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s, between 5’08” and 5’10” tall, weighing between 150-160 pounds. He was wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans.
This case continues to be investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division and more information will be released as it becomes available.

Killeen Police Investigate Shooting on Wyoming Street
Killeen Police investigate shooting on Wyoming.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired at the 500 block of Wyoming, just after 8:00 pm on Wednesday March 5, 2014. Upon the officers’ arrival, they met with witnesses that said two black males were involved in a verbal altercation that turned violent after both men exchanged gun fire. They located one gunshot victim at 512 Wyoming; he was transported to the Carl R Darnall Army Medical Center and was subsequently transferred to the Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple. The other gunshot victim was located at 420 Gilmer; he was transported to the Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple. Both men are in stable condition at this time. No one else was injured during the altercation.

Killeen Police Seek Vehicle Burglary Suspect
Killeen Police are asking for the community’s help by identifying a car burglar.
An officer responded to the 500 block of N. 8th on Sunday, February 16, 2014 just after 2:00pm, after the owner of a white 2008 Honda Accord found her vehicle burglarized. Upon their arrival, the officer met with the victim who told them that sometime between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm, the window of her Honda Accord was broken out and her laptop computer was stolen.
