Killeen Police Investigate Shooting on John Porter Drive
UPDATE:
KILLEEN, Texas (August 15, 2026): Killeen Police charge 28-year-old-male with Murder.
Detectives with the Killeen Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit received a criminal complaint from the Bell County District Attorney’s Office charging 28-year-old Deundra Deon Gaines II with the murder of Ronald D’Andre Horne. Gaines was arraigned by Bell County Justice of the Peace Michael Tice, who set bond at $1,500,000. Gaines is currently being held in the Bell County Jail.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division’s Robbery-Homicide Unit continue to actively investigate this case.

KILLEEN, Texas (August 15, 2026): Killeen Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday morning in the 2900 block of John Porter Drive.
At approximately 10:07 a.m., officers responded to the 2900 block of John Porter Drive in reference to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious male lying in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound.
Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson pronounced 30-year-old Ronald D’Andre Horne deceased at 10:34 a.m.
Detectives with the Killeen Police Department Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. One person has been detained in connection with the investigation.
This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to the community at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Killeen Police Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
Killeen, TX (August 2, 2026): Investigators with the Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit are investigating a fatal hit-and-run auto-pedestrian crash that occurred early Sunday morning in the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (FM 2410).
On Sunday, August 2, 2026, at approximately 5:28 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in reference to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. Upon arrival, officers located a male pedestrian lying in the roadway.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was walking in the inside lane of FM 2410 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling northbound. The impact caused the pedestrian to come to rest in the inside lane, where he was subsequently struck by a silver Ford F-150. The driver of the Ford F-150 immediately stopped, remained at the scene, and cooperated with officers.
Killeen Fire Department personnel provided emergency medical treatment to the pedestrian; however, despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at 5:35 a.m.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators have determined that the driver of the vehicle that initially struck the pedestrian left the scene without stopping to render aid or report the crash.
