Killeen Police Investigate a Pedestrian Fatality on Interstate 14

Killeen, TX (September 28, 2021): Investigators with the Killeen Police Traffic Unit are investigating a pedestrian fatality on Interstate 14.

On Sunday, September 26, 2021, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to I-14 between mile markers 284 and 285, in reference to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male lying in the roadway.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the male pedestrian was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes headed southbound when he was struck by a sedan, coming to a rest in the middle lane. The female driver of the sedan was transported to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights with minor injuries.

The victim, 34-year-old Christopher Nash, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at 10:05 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing and at this time no other information will be released.

Killeen Police Investigate a Pedestrian Crash

Killeen, TX (September 28, 2021): Investigators with the Killeen Police Traffic Unit are investigating a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian.

On Saturday, September 25, 2021, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Fort Hood Street in reference to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at approximately 2:13 a.m. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a 25-year-old male lying in the roadway near the entrance to MJ’s Bar and Grill. He was immediately transported to Baylor Scott & White in unknown condition. Witnesses told officers that the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid and continued driving northbound on Fort Hood Street.

At this time, officers are looking for a red in color car with damage to the passenger side.

The victim is currently in stable condition.

Killeen Police Conducts a Railroad Detail

Killeen, TX (September 22, 2021): Killeen Police Traffic Unit partners with BNSF Police Department to enforce and educate the public about safety around the railroad tracks.

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, both agencies conducted a train detail at SH 195 and the railroad tracks to bring awareness to the community about railroad crossing safety and to enforce the Texas Transportation Code laws near this intersection. Vehicles frequently stop on the tracks or too close to them when the red light at SH 195 and Veterans Memorial Blvd. is activated. Upon illumination of the crossing signal, vehicles are required by law to stop immediately at the designated point.

Between 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., the following violations occurred in the officer’s presence at this location.

• 40 citations were issued for Stopping, Standing, or Parking Prohibited in Certain Places.
• 1 citation was issued for Illegal Tint

A total of 41 citations were issued.

Victim in Shooting Investigation Dies from Injuries

Killeen, TX (September 18, 2021): On Thursday, September 16, 2021, the victim, Francine Martinez, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman at 10:25 p.m.

This investigation is currently being reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office to enhance the current charge on the suspect.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

Killeen, TX (September 7, 2021): Killeen Police arrest 24-year-old in a late night shooting on Elms Road.

On September 4, 2021, at approximately 1:54 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of W. Elms Road in reference to a shooting victim. As officers were in route to the scene, they were advised that a gunshot victim was at Seton Medical Center Harker Heights and was subsequently being airlifted to Baylor Scott and White in Temple.

Through the investigation, detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit were able to identify the suspect in this incident. On September 5, 2021, the case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging 24-year-old Nakealon Keunte Mosley with Aggravated Assault Family Member with a Deadly Weapon. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke issued a warrant for his arrest and set his bond at $500,000. Mosley was located and arrested. He is currently in the Bell County Jail.

The current condition of the victim is stable but critical.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no other information at this time.

Killeen Police Arrest Suspect in Shooting Investigation

Killeen, TX (September 14, 2021): A 19-year-old male is in custody for a shooting investigation that occurred in April of 2021.

On April 22, 2021, at approximately 8:25 p.m., officers were in the area of North Gray Street and Church Avenue when they heard approximately three gunshots in the area when the dispatcher advised of a gunshot victim at a residence located in the 900 block of Brewster Avenue. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located an 18-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in critical condition.

After several months of recovery, the victim was able to finally talk to detectives about the incident. Through the investigation, detectives were able to determine that the victim was picked up in a vehicle by the suspect and two other occupants to purchase a handgun, when the suspect fired a gunshot towards the victim. The victim was then thrown out of the vehicle and the suspects fled the scene.

On Friday, September 10, 2021, the case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging 19-year-old Demetris Donal Davis with Aggravated Assault with Bodily Injury with a Deadly Weapon. A warrant for his arrest was issued and on Monday, September 13, 2021, at approximately 8:50 a.m., Davis was located in the 3400 block of Barcelona Drive and was taken in custody without incident. He was transported to the Killeen City Jail.

Killeen, TX (September 8, 2021): Killeen Police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old female victim.

Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Stardust Drive on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at approximately 11:25 p.m., in reference to a shots fired disturbance. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a white sedan in the roadway with a female driver suffering from a gunshot wound. She was immediately airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in critical condition.

The victim, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 2:20 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Keith Reed. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

This is the twelfth Murder for the City of Killeen in 2021.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A LATE-NIGHT MURDER

Killeen, TX (September 7, 2021): Killeen Police are investigating the murder of an 18-year-old male victim.

On September 6, 2021, at approximately 11:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4500 block of Westcliff Road in reference to a shots fired call.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a vehicle near an apartment building with a male driver suffering from a gunshot wound. 

The victim, 18, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 12:34 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at the scene.  He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

This is the eleventh Murder for the City of Killeen in 2021.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A MURDER

Killeen, TX (September 5, 2021): Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, Homicide Unit, are investigating the tenth murder in the City of Killeen for 2021.

At approximately 8:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Liberty 6 Motel located at 529 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd. in reference to a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers located two males suffering from a gunshot wound. One was unconscious lying on the ground and the second was alert. The second male, 32, was transported to Baylor Scott & White in Temple in stable condition.

One male victim, 21, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 8:52 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at the scene. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
