27-Year-Old Involved in Officer-Involved-Shooting Dies from Injuries
Killeen, TX (April 27, 2022): The Killeen Police Department was notified that the male involved in the officer involved shooting has succumbed to his injuries.
Officer Hill currently remains on non-enforcement duty.

Killeen, TX (April 20, 2022): The Killeen Police Officer involved is identified as Officer Devin Hill, a 16-year veteran of the department. Officer Hill has returned to duty with the department.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE AND TEXAS RANGERS ARE INVESTIGATING AN OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
Killeen, TX (April 5, 2022): At approximately 4:49 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Mickey’s Convenience Store located at 3200 S. Fort Hood Street in reference to a 911 call about a disturbance. Upon the officer’s arrival, they were told that an individual was causing a disturbance in the parking lot. Officers made contact with the individual and an altercation ensued. Officers attempted to subdue him with their Taser and were unsuccessful. The altercation continued and the officer discharged his duty weapon, striking the individual. The male was transported by paramedics to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he is currently in surgery.
The Killeen Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and the Texas Rangers responded to the scene and an investigation is ongoing, being led by the Rangers.
As per protocol, the officer will be placed on administrative leave.

Killeen Police Introduces New Mental Health Program
Killeen, TX (April 25, 2022): The Killeen Police Department in conjunction with the Killeen Branch NAACP and Texas A&M University-Central Texas will be launching a new mental health program in the City of Killeen.
The Killeen Police Department recognizes the seriousness and the complexities of mental illness in our society. Our mission at the Killeen Police Department is to serve our citizens who suffer from mental illness with quality, professional and compassionate service. Knowing this valuable information can give the officers the tools they need for a better approach to citizen interaction.
On Monday, May 2, 2022, the program, “Killeen Cares”, will launch at Texas A & M University in the Bernie Beck Founders Hall on the 1st Floor located at 1001 Leadership Pl from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m. We invite the public and the media to come out and join us.

Killeen Police Identify Decedent Found in Nolan Creek

Killeen, TX (April 19, 2022): The deceased individual has been identified as Isaiah Jose Lozada, 22-year-old male. Autopsy results are still pending as to the cause of death.

Killeen, TX (April 15, 2022): At approximately 4:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Ave. K where it was reported a deceased person was found within Nolan Creek upon the bank. When officers arrived, they did locate a person deceased and detectives were called to the scene.
Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced the person deceased at 4:55 p.m. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
Detectives have recently arrived on scene and information is limited. Cause of death will be pending autopsy.

Killeen Police Conducts Traffic Safety Detail
NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE CONDUCTS TRAFFIC SAFETY DETAIL
Killeen, TX (April 8, 2022): Killeen Police conducted a traffic safety detail at four locations in Killeen that have had a high number of traffic complaints from citizens. The intent of the detail was to increase public safety by bringing awareness to traffic law.
On Thursday, April 7, 2022, Officers with the Traffic Unit and with the assistance of the Days A squad, conducted a traffic detail in the following locations throughout the day.
- 1700 S. WS Young Dr. (Manor MS school zone) morning and afternoon
- 3300 Clear Creek Rd. (Shoemaker HS school zone) morning
- 3400 block E. CTE westbound
- 3500 block E. CTE eastbound
During the detail, the following violations and arrest occurred in the officer’s presence at the listed locations.
- 3 Warnings
- 117 Speeding
- 10 No Insurance
- 1 License Invalid
- 2 No Driver’s License
- 2 No Seatbelt
- 1 Fail to Signal
- 3 Expired Registration
- 4 Tint Violation

Killeen Police Investigate Traffic Fatality on Clear Creek Road
NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A CRASH FATALITY ON CLEAR CREEK ROAD
Killeen, TX (April 6, 2022): A 25-year-old male is deceased from an early morning crash.
On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at approximately 12:57 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 4900 South Clear Creek Rd. in reference to a major crash. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located two vehicles that were involved in the collision.
The preliminary investigation showed a blue Suzuki motorcycle was traveling southbound in the inside lane. A black Jeep SUV was traveling southbound also in the inside lane in front of the Suzuki. The Suzuki failed to control speed striking the Jeep from behind.
The driver of the Suzuki, Yorluis Cruz, succumbed to his injuries on the scene and was pronounced deceased at 2:00 a.m., by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson.
This investigation is ongoing by the department’s Traffic Unit and no other information will be released at this time.
