Killeen Police Investigate a Pedestrian Hit and Run Crash

Killeen, TX (February 28, 2021): Killeen Police were dispatched at approximately 2:31 p.m., on Sunday, February 28, 2021, to a 911 call in reference to a crash involving a single vehicle and a 11-year-old pedestrian in the area of N. College Street and W. Green Avenue. The male juvenile was transported to McLane’s Children’s Hospital in Temple with non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was on a skateboard traveling southbound on Root Avenue when a low profile black pickup truck with red rims traveling westbound on W. Church Avenue, failed to yield right of way to the pedestrian, striking him. The driver continued to travel and turned left northbound on Root Avenue and then westbound on W. Green Avenue effectively leaving the scene.

UPDATE – KILLEEN POLICE IDENTIFY SHOOTER

Killeen, TX (February 24, 2021): The suspect in this incident is currently in the Killeen City Jail.

Through the investigation, detectives with the Homicide Unit identified the shooter in this incident. The suspect is awaiting formal charges from the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing and at this time no other information will be released.

KILLEEN POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A MURDER ON WATERCREST

Killeen, TX (February 21, 2021): A 25-year old male victim is dead after being shot near a business in the 4400 block of Watercrest Road.

Officers with the Killeen Police Department were dispatched on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at approximately 2:13 a.m., to the Crew Hookah Lounge located at 4400 Watercrest Road in reference to a 911 call about a shooting victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived. He was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition.

The victim, Anthony Newton, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 4:03 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.
No arrests have been made.

This is the second criminal homicide in the City of Killeen of 2021.

Killeen Police Investigate a Homicide on Tatonka

Killeen, TX (February 24, 2021): A late night domestic disturbance led to two people deceased.

Killeen Police were dispatched to the 3900 block of Tatonka Drive at 11:54 p.m., on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, after receiving a 911 call in reference to a shooting.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the female victim and the male were involved in a domestic disturbance when the male produced a handgun and shot his wife. The male was in the garage when officers arrived and then shot himself, taking his life. There were three children in the residence and were unharmed.

Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson pronounced the female, 34-year-old Tiffany Shaquina Shepard, deceased at 2:12a.m. and the male, 40-year-old Archie Andrew Mitchell at 2:14 a.m. He ordered autopsies to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The investigation is ongoing and at this time no other information will be released.

Multiple Vehicles Burglarized Overnight near Interstate 14

Killeen, TX (February 9, 2021): Killeen Police are investigating approximately 60 reports of vehicle burglaries that occurred in the parking lots of hotels between Jasper Road and W.S. Young Drive.

The burglaries occurred overnight on Tuesday where the suspect(s) broke into the vehicles, by breaking a window and rummaging through them for things to take. At least 8 handguns were stolen along with ammunition.

We urge citizens to remove and secure your belongings, especially firearms, from their vehicles overnight, to ensure they do not end up in the wrong hands.

UPDATE – Killeen Police Locates Wanted Fugitive

On Monday, February 8, 2021, at approximately, 5:30 p.m., Killeen Police located Emilio Terrazas traveling in a Red Kia sedan on Old FM 440 Road. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, occupied by two, when the driver refused, and a pursuit ensued. The suspect driver led officers to the area of Bull Run Drive and Fieldcrest Drive where the driver came to a stop and both occupants fled on foot. Officers conducted a search of the area and Terrazas was located. He was taken into custody without incident and arrested on a warrant for Aggravated Assault out of Killeen and a warrant for Robbery out of Williamson County. The second suspect was not located.

No injuries or property damage was reported.

This investigation is active, and no further information will be released at this time.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE IDENTIFY SUSPECTS FROM THE MICKEY’S CONVENIENCE STORE SHOOTING

Killeen, TX (December 30, 2020): On Sunday, December 6, 2020, at approximately 12:38 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of S WS Young Drive in reference to a shooting and a female victim. Upon arrival, they located a female suffering from a gunshot wound by unknown persons.

It was reported that the victim arrived at the business and parked, when a red Chevrolet car parked near the victim and a male exited the vehicle. A second vehicle, a gray 4 Dr Hatchback, parked several spots away on the opposite side of the victim’s vehicle and two males exited. The two males from the gray hatchback started to shoot at the male from the red car. The female victim was caught in the crossfire. Both the gray vehicle and the red vehicle fled the scene. The victim was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Through the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division were able to identify the males from the gray hatchback. On Wednesday, December 23, 2020, detectives obtained arrest warrants for Zaveon Hakhem Cummings, 18, and Emilio Terrazas, 19, both from Killeen for Aggravated Assault.

On Wednesday, December 30, 2020, Zaveon Hakhem Cummings, was located and arrested by members of the US Marshals Service – Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in 18000 Block of Live Oak Trail, Tomball Texas.

In addition to the arrest warrant for Aggravated Assault, Emilio Terrazas is a Person of Interest in connection with the shooting on Alma Drive that occurred on December 27, 2020. Terrazas is described a Hispanic male, 6’ and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Killeen Police Investigate an Overnight Shooting

Killeen, TX (February 6, 2021): A 23-year-old male is currently in the hospital after being shot while inside a residence.

On February 5, 2021, at approximately 9:57 p.m., Killeen Police were dispatched to the 3100 block of Clinkenbeard Drive in reference to a 911 call about a shooting victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in critical but stable condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was inside a residence when someone banged on the front door. As the victim was opening the door, gunshots were fired, striking him. Witnesses immediately called 911. No other injuries were reported.

Killeen Police Identify and Arrest Murder Suspect

Through the investigation, Detectives with the Homicide Unit identified the suspect involved in this Murder.

On Sunday, January 31, 2021, this case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and three complaints were returned. 30-year-old Syrknoreon Dewuntrel Pilgram was charged with Murder and two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

On Monday, February 1, 2021, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Pilgram was located and arrested at the intersection of Texas Avenue and Gray Street by the United States Marshals Service-Lone Star Fugitive Task Force without incident. Pilgrim was transported to the Killeen City Jail.

UPDATE – NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE IDENTIFIES 34-YEAR-OLD MURDER VICTIM

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division have identified the deceased victim as Asher Levi Kitchens. The other victims, a 41 -year-old and a 42-year-old, remain in the hospital and are in stable condition.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A MURDER OF A 34-YEAR-OLD

Killeen, TX (January 31, 2021): At approximately 9:32 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of York Avenue in reference to a shooting victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located three males suffering from gunshot wounds. Two were immediately transported to Baylor Scott & White in Temple and the third victim was deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the three victims were at a residence in the 600 block of Murphy Street. The suspect arrived and started a disturbance when shots were fired. At this time, this appears to be an isolated incident.

The deceased victim was pronounced dead at 10:59 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. The name of the victim will not be released until next of kin is notified.
This investigation is active, and information will be released as it becomes available.
