Police Investigate Shooting on Mulford Street

On Sunday, November 24, 2019, at approximately 7:15 P.M., officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Mulford St. in reference to a 911 call about a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the two victims were near their residence when confronted by two unknown suspects.  The two male gunshot victims, a 49-year-old, and 21-year-old were taken to local hospitals.  The 21-year-old victim has been released from the hospital.  The 49-year-old remains in the hospital in stable condition.  The investigation continues.

Killeen Police Investigate a Fatal Crash on 38th Street

On Wednesday, November 21, 2019, at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of 38th Street and Water Street in reference to several 911 calls about a major crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of a 2005 dark purple Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling in the outside lane of 38th Street approaching Water Street, when a maroon 2013 Chevy Impala, traveling southbound in the center turning lane failed to yield right of way to the motorcycle causing it to strike the right rear quarter panel of the Chevy.  The motorcycle came to rest in the outside lane of traffic.  A third vehicle, a 2019 white Kia Sorento traveling northbound in the outside lane of 38th Street struck the motorcycle.  The motorcyclist was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in critical condition.

A witness who was traveling southbound on 38th Street observed the crash and pulled over to assist.  The female exited her vehicle in an attempt to render aid to the motorcyclist.  As she crossed 38th Street, she was struck by a 2014 white Chevy Silverado 1500 that was traveling northbound in the inside lane on 38th Street.  She was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition.

The pedestrian, 51 year-old Pamela Kay Freeman, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Daryl Peters at approximately 7:53 p.m.  He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.

Besides the pedestrian and the motorcyclist, no other injuries were reported.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this crash and information will be released as it becomes available.

Killeen Police Investigate a Pedestrian Fatality

On Friday, November 8, 2019, at approximately 11:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Twin Creek and Roy J. Smith in reference to a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male lying in the roadway.  He was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition; he was subsequently airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in Temple.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a green Chevy or GMC style pickup truck was traveling northbound in the outside lane on Twin Creek Drive and struck the pedestrian.  The suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

On Saturday, November 9, 2019, the victim, 27 year-old Christopher Rivers Jr. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace David Barfield at 5:16 p.m.

Killeen Police Charges Woman for False Report

On Saturday, October 26, 2019, a woman reported to the Killeen Police Department that she had been pulled over by a white Ford Crown Victoria equipped with flashing red and blue lights occupied by two males.   The female further stated that the males were wearing police uniforms, physically searched her and then left the area.

An investigation into the reported incident was immediately conducted by Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, General Crimes and C.O.P.S. Violent Crimes Units.  This investigation revealed the woman made a false report to the officer.  The incident did not happen.

On Monday, November 4, 2019, a warrant was issued for Brittany Neshay Garrett, 29, of Killeen by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke for False Report to a Police Officer.  Garrett was arrested and processed into the Killeen City Jail.

“The Killeen Police Department takes the safety and trust of our citizens very seriously,” stated Chief Charles Kimble.

We would like to remind the community that if you are ever concerned about being pulled over by a police officer, you could always ensure that you pull over in a well-lit, populated area and call 911 if you feel the need to verify it is a police officer making the traffic stop.

KPD Conducting a Death Investigation

The Killeen Police Department responded to a report of an unresponsive male at the 1600 block of E. Veteran’s Memorial Blvd., on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at 11:09 a.m.

Officers arrived and were told a citizen was walking nearby when they saw a male lying on the ground.  After discovering the male was injured and unresponsive, the citizen notified the Fire Department.

The male victim was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 11:30 a.m. and an autopsy was ordered to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.  Detectives are conducting a death investigation at this time and the cause of death will be determined once the autopsy results have returned.

The victim was identified as 33 year old, Maikol Abdiel Colon.

Killeen Police Identify Victim and Suspect from Reece Creek Murder

UPDATE – November 1, 2019

The victim has been identified as 48 year-old Luis Eddie Cosme of Killeen.

On Friday, November 1, 2019, the Bell County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and issued a complaint charging 25 year-old Bryan Jamal Dunn from the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, District of Columbia, with Murder.  Dunn was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke and set his bond at $1,000,000.  Dunn is currently in the Bell County Jail.

Killeen Police Investigate a Homicide on Reece Creek Road.

On Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at approximately 8:54 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Reese Creek Road in reference to a 911 call about a shooting victim and a possible kidnapping.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a female in the home and the suspect were involved in a disturbance, when the male resident intervened and was shot by the suspect.  The suspect then forced the female into his vehicle and fled the area.   The female was later released in Round Rock.

The 48 year-old victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 9:33 p.m. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The Killeen Police Department would like to thank the United States Marshals Service-Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, Waco and Austin Divisions, and the Round Rock Police Department for their assistance in apprehending the suspect and ensuring the safe return of the female.

Killeen Police Arrest Murder Suspect

UPDATE – November 1, 2019

The Criminal Investigation Division, Homicide Unit, has identified the suspect involved in the Murder of 36 year-old Simeon Onesimus Shaw. 

A warrant for Murder was obtained and on Friday, November 1, 2019, at approximately 8:20 a.m., with the assistance of the United States Marshals – Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, 19 year-old Andre Lovell Stewart was located and arrested for Murder.  Stewart was transported to the Killeen City Jail and is awaiting arraignment.

Killeen Police Investigates a Homicide on Mulford.

On Friday, October 4, 2019, at approximately 11:11 p.m., officers were dispatched to 1800 block of Mulford Street in reference to a 911 call about a shooting victim.   Upon the officers arrival they located a 36 year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.  Officers’ immediately started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived.  The victim was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition.

The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 11:58 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Killeen Police Identify Homicide Victim from Old FM 440

UPDATE – November 1, 2019

The name of the victim has been identified as 19 year-old Jonathan Eliel Martinez-Cruz of Killeen.

This case continues to be investigated and information will be released as it becomes available.

Killeen Police Investigate a Homicide on Old FM 440.

Officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Old FM 440 Road on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at approximately 9:50 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about a shooting victim.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male lying in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.  Officers’ immediately started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived.  The victim was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition.

The 19 year-old male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 11:10 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.  He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
