Killeen, TX (January 26, 2022): Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit receive multiple complaints on the 31-year-old robbery suspect.

On Monday, January 24, 2022, this case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and three complaints were returned charging Jamar McNair Jones with Aggravated Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Evading Arrest in a Vehicle. On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, Jones was released from the hospital and transported to the Bell County Jail. On Wednesday, January 26, 2022, Jones was arraigned on all three charges including an outstanding warrant for Assault with Bodily Injury on a Family Member out of our agency by Justice of the Peace Keith Reed and set his bond for all charges totaling $306,500.00.

The investigations involving this suspect is ongoing and there is no additional information at this time.

Killeen, TX (January 18, 2022): Killeen Police are investigating a shooting involving a robbery suspect.

On Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at approximately 10:09 a.m., officers attempted to make contact at a residence in Killeen with a suspect believed to be involved in multiple armed robberies in the city. That is when the suspect fled in a gray Nissan sedan and a pursuit ensued. The suspect led officers eastbound on Veteran’s Memorial Blvd towards Harker Heights, Nolanville and onto I-14. The suspect continued to travel at a high rate of speed into Belton towards Loop 121 and then headed back westbound on I-14. The suspect then took the Rosewood Drive exit and he wrecked out, disabling his vehicle. He then fled from his vehicle and attempted to hijack a nearby vehicle. When the driver of that vehicle noticed the armed suspect, he took out his firearm and discharged it at the suspect, protecting himself. The suspect was struck multiple times. The suspect was immediately transported to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights and subsequently airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in Temple.

The suspect, a 31-one year-old male, has an active warrant out of Dallas for Aggravated Robbery.

Killeen, TX (January 24, 2022): Investigators with the Killeen Police Traffic Unit are investigating a pedestrian fatality on Rancier Avenue.

On Thursday, January 13, 2022, at approximately 6:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Rancier Avenue and N. Twin Creek Drive in reference to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon the officer’s arrival, they located a male lying in the grassy area with major injuries. The pedestrian was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White hospital in Temple.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing E. Rancier Ave. from the southside of the roadway to the northside. He failed to yield right of way to a white GMC Terrain that was traveling westbound on E. Rancier Ave. in the outside lane and was struck.

On Monday, January 24, 2022, at approximately 6:43 a.m., the pedestrian, 50-year-old Michael Bishop succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased by Scott and White hospital staff and Justice of the Peace Keith Reed.

The investigation is ongoing and at this time no other information will be released.

Killeen, TX (January 21, 2022): The Killeen Police Department is currently accepting applications for the next Citizen’s Police Academy.

The department will be hosting the 51st Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) beginning March 7, 2022 and continuing through May 16, 2022. Classes will be held on Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and one additional class on Saturday, April 23rd. These eleven weeks of instruction will include presentations of the operations and functions of the various investigative and administrative divisions within the department. The program is educational and informative that will promote better understanding to the attendees so that they may possess greater insight into police practices and the services the department provides. Upon graduation, graduates will be able to share their knowledge and experiences with the community as the opportunity arises.

Applications will be available at the Killeen Police Department Headquarters beginning Monday, January 24, 2022. Applicants must agree to submit to a background check which includes a criminal history inquiry. The deadline submission for applications is Friday, February 18, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. There is no cost to anyone who enrolls.

Killeen, TX (January 14, 2022): Killeen Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects in a shooting involving a BB gun.

On December 30, 2021 at approximately 1:33 p.m., a group of males in what appears to be a white Kia Soul, drove past the victim in the 400 block of Atlas Ave. firing several shots from a BB gun, striking and injuring the victim.  The last four digits of the license plate are possibly 8148.

The actual suspect vehicle was captured on video.  Video Stills are included below.  Detectives are requesting assistance from the public identifying the suspect vehicle and suspects in this crime.  We are also asking anyone else who may have been a victim of these suspects to contact the KPD Criminal Investigation Division at 254-501-8830.

Killeen, TX (January 14, 2022): Killeen Police are investigating a shooting incident.

On January 13th, 2022, at approximately 7:03 p.m., Officers responded to the area of Fort Hood St. and Rancier Ave. in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, Officers located a 20-year-old male and an 18-year-old female who both sustained gunshot wounds.  Both victims were transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital by helicopter.  The female is in stable condition and the male is in critical condition.     

Preliminary investigation indicated the two victims were traveling in a vehicle northbound in the 700 block of S. Fort Hood St.  A black sedan pulled next to the victims and fired shots at the victim’s vehicle.  The suspect vehicle turned east on Hallmark Ave. and the victim continued north.

Killeen, TX (January 8, 2022) Killeen Police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old male.

On Saturday, January 8, 2022, at approximately 2:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of 22nd Street in reference to a welfare concern about a male who had not been heard from in a few days. Upon the officers’ arrival, they made entry into the unlocked residence after no answer at the door and located a deceased male. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced the victim deceased at 3:42 p.m. and ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Killeen, TX (January 6, 2022) Killeen Police are investigating the death of a 41-year-old male.

On Thursday, January 6, 2022, at approximately 1:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Obok Restaurant & Club located at 2815 of S. Fort Hood Street in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon the officer’s arrival, they located a male lying in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Medical Center in critical condition. Officers were then notified that a female victim was at Seton Medical Center Harker Heights with minor injuries from this incident. She was treated and released.

The victim, Roderick Pollard, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 6:10 a.m., by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Killeen, TX (January 5, 2022) Four males are currently in custody pending charges.

On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at approximately 2:25 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of S. Fort Hood Street on a white Chevy pickup, occupied by four males, for a traffic violation.

The preliminary investigation revealed that while officers were conducting their investigation, an armed subject exited the vehicle and fled on foot. One of the officers observed the handgun in the suspect’s hand, he drew his duty weapon and a foot pursuit ensued. The officer repeatedly gave several commands to the suspect to stop and drop the gun. The suspect approached a fence and during the course of jumping it, he kicked the officer’s hand, causing his duty weapon to discharge. The suspect was located and arrested near West Lane and Jennifer Drive. He was transported to the Killeen City Jail. No injuries were reported. The other three males were also placed into custody and transported to the Killeen City Jail.

While officers and detectives conducted a search of the vehicle, they located two handguns and illegal narcotics.

This incident is currently under Administrative Review by the Killeen Police Department Internal Affairs Unit.

Killeen, TX (January 1, 2022): The Killeen Police Department would like to clarify on a news article posted by the Killeen Daily Herald on Friday, December 31, 2021, about a committee wanting to decriminalize marijuana in the City of Killeen.

The news article stated that Ms. Shirley Fleming, one of the committee organizers, invited Police Chief Charles Kimble to attend this meeting, however, it did not state that Chief Kimble declined the invitation. In fact, he declined the invitation on several occasions. No member of the Killeen Police Department will be in attendance.

We want the community to know that department does not support to decriminalize marijuana and we will continue to follow the statute, Texas Health and Safety Code 481.121 – Possession of Marijuana, which is the Texas State Law.
