***UPDATE*** Killeen, TX (May 29th, 2026):Killeen Police Charge 47-Year-Old with Murder

The Killeen Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit reviewed this case with the Bell County District Attorney’s Office. A Complaint and Affidavit were presented to Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson on May 6th, 2026, and an Arrest Warrant for Murder was issued on 47-Year-Old Charlie Leon Waldon. On May 14th, 2026 Waldon was located in Pittsburg County Oklahoma and placed under arrest by the Pittsburg County Sheriffs Office. Waldon was arrested at the jail as he was attempting to bail out his girlfriend. Waldon is awaiting extradition back to Bell County.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division’s Robbery-Homicide Unit continue to actively investigate this case.

Killeen, TX (March 12, 2026): The Killeen Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that resulted in one deceased victim.
On Thursday, March 12, 2026, at approximately 9:12 a.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of N. Gray Street in reference to a 911 call reporting a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious male outside of a residence. Killeen EMS responded to the scene and confirmed the male showed no signs of life.
Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson pronounced the victim, 37-year-old Christopher Gillespey, deceased at 9:25 a.m. and ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was inside his residence when he was shot and exited the home, where he collapsed outside.
The Killeen Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, Robbery-Homicide Unit, is actively investigating this case. Detectives are asking residents and businesses in the area to review their surveillance cameras for any individuals in the vicinity around the time of the shooting.

Killeen Police Investigate Shooting in 5800 block of Siltstone Lp

On May 25, 2026, at approximately 11:58 p.m., officers with the Killeen Police Department responded to a shooting investigation in the 5800 block of Siltstone Loop.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect fired shots into a residence where a party was taking place. Three individuals sustained minor injuries believed to be caused by ricocheting gunfire. All three individuals refused medical treatment from Killeen EMS at the scene.

When officers arrived, they encountered numerous individuals at the location who were uncooperative with the investigation. At this time, the incident appears to be isolated and targeted toward the residence. No suspects have been identified.

Detectives are asking anyone in the area with surveillance or camera footage related to the incident to submit it using the attached QR code.

Killeen Police Traffic Unit Conducts Railroad Crossing Safety Detail

Killeen, TX (May 8, 2026): On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit conducted a Railroad Crossing Safety Detail from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to promote traffic safety and educate drivers on the importance of obeying railroad crossing laws.

During the enforcement detail, officers conducted eleven traffic stops resulting in multiple enforcement actions for violations related to railroad crossing safety and other observed traffic infractions.

The following violations were observed during the detail:
• Stopped too close to the railroad tracks — 6
• Stopped on the railroad tracks — 4
• Disregard of railroad crossing signal — 1

The purpose of the detail was to increase awareness of railroad crossing laws, enhance public safety, and reduce the risk of vehicle versus train collisions. The presence of officers in the area also served as a visible deterrent to unsafe driving behaviors near railroad crossings.

The Killeen Police Department reminds motorists to always obey railroad crossing signals, never stop on railroad tracks, and remain alert when approaching railroad crossings.

Killeen Police Investigate a Homicide on Bluestem Lane

Killeen, TX (May 4, 2026): On Sunday, May 3, 2026, at approximately 1:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Bluestem Lane in reference to a welfare check. Upon the officer’s arrival, they discovered a deceased 74-year-old female and a 43-year-old male inside the residence.

The female and male were pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Nicola James at 3:57 p.m.

The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The preliminary investigation indicates this was a domestic-related incident and appears to be a murder-suicide.

The Killeen Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, Robbery-Homicide Unit, is actively investigating this case, and there is no additional information available at this time.
