Killeen Police Identifies Driver in Pedestrian Hit and Run Fatality

Killeen, TX (November 28, 2022): Investigators with the Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit have concluded the investigation of this crash. The suspect vehicle and driver have been located and identified. The case was reviewed with the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, and no charges will be filed for the accident.

The driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested on November 12, 2022, for the misdemeanor offense of False Report to a Peace Officer due to the information provided regarding the crash during the investigation.

Killeen, TX (October 17, 2022): The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Kevin Roderick Gordon II.

Investigators with the Traffic Unit continue to look for a greyish/ black SUV with front-end damage along with a broken headlight.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A HIT AND RUN FATALITY

Killeen, TX (October 3, 2022): Investigators with the Killeen Police Traffic Unit are investigating a pedestrian fatality on Fort Hood Street.

On Sunday, October 2, 2022, at approximately 9:12 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of S. Fort Hood Street in reference to a crash involving a pedestrian. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located an unconscious male lying in the roadway. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 10:22 p.m.

The preliminary investigation determined that the pedestrian was crossing the Fort Hood Street from the eastside of the roadway to the westside. When a greyish/black SUV-type vehicle traveling northbound in the inside lane of S. Fort Hood Street struck the pedestrian. A second vehicle traveling behind the SUV subsequently struck the pedestrian. The first vehicle failed to stop and render aid and fled the scene. The second vehicle, a Nissan Murano, came to a stop.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Witnesses on the scene were able to report the first vehicle was grey or black in color and was traveling with no active headlights. Investigators with the Traffic Unit are looking for a greyish/ black SUV with front-end damage along with a broken headlight.

Killeen Police Arrest Murder Suspect

Killeen, TX (November 18, 2022): 31-year-old murder suspect has been located and arrested.

Detectives with the Killeen Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit presented this case to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for review and a complaint for Murder was returned charging Kenneth Lloyd Carter. Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson issued an arrest warrant for Carter.

On Thursday, November 17, 2022, Kenneth Lloyd Carter was located and arrested in Humble, Texas. Magistrate James Callan with the Harris County Criminal Court 4 arraigned Carter for Murder setting his bond at $250,000.

The Killeen Police Department would like to thank the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Special Operations Unit, the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, and the U.S. Marshals Lonestar Fugitive Task Force for their assistance with the apprehension.

On Sunday, November 13, 2022, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a 911 call in reference to a shooting victim in the 5000 block of Primavera Lane. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived.

The victim, Stepheno Rashad Gibson, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 5:15 p.m.

No arrests have been made.

This is the nineteenth murder victim for the City of Killeen this year.

Killeen Police Department Hosts Recruiting Event

Killeen, TX (November 15, 2022): The Killeen Police Department invites you to attend a Recruiting Open House Event for all open positions in the department.

On Saturday, November 19, 2022, members of the department will be available to offer a “hands-on” recruiting event. Interested applicants in attendance will learn about our hiring process, academy, salary, and benefits. Killeen Police Charges Suspect with Murder

Killeen, TX (November 14, 2022): The Bell County District Attorney’s Office reviewed this case and returned a complaint charging 49-year-old Raymond Cecil Kastner with Murder. Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson arraigned Kastner setting his bond at $1,000,000. He is awaiting transport to the Bell County Jail.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A STABBING AT THE ISLAMIC COMMUNITY OF GREATER KILLEEN

Killeen, TX (November 14, 2022): Killeen Police are actively investigating the Murder of a 69-year-old male.
On Saturday, November 12, 2022, at approximately 1:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to a 911 call in reference to a stabbing at the mosque located at 5600 State Highway 195. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male suffering from a stab wound. A second male was located and detained.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were in a business relationship, and both attended the mosque. At the time of the incident occurred, both individuals were inside the mosque when the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife. The victim, Muhammad Idrees Kahn, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 1:37 p.m.
This is the eighteenth murder victim for the City of Killeen this year.

This Murder investigation is active and there is no additional information at this time.

Killeen Police Investigate a Stabbing at the Islamic Community of Greater Killeen

Killeen, TX (November 14, 2022): Killeen Police are actively investigating the Murder of a 69-year-old male.

Killeen Police Investigate a Murder on Bryce Avenue

Killeen, TX (November 10, 2022): Killeen Police are actively investigating the Murder of a 21-year-old male.

On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Killeen Police Officers responded to a call about a shooting victim in the 200 block of East Bryce Avenue. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics arrived and started to perform life saving measures. He was transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition.

The victim, Abkhir Abdel Neville, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace William Cooke at 11:26 p.m.

This is the seventeenth murder victim in the City of Killeen this year.

No arrests have been made in this case.

Killeen Police Investigate a Fatal Bicycle Crash

Killeen, TX (November 5, 2022): Investigators with the Traffic Unit are investigating a fatal crash involving a 47-year-old.

On Friday, November 4, 2022, at approximately 7:39 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call in reference to a crash involving a bicycle and a car near the intersection of Florence Road and Brookway Drive. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located an unresponsive male lying in the roadway. Officers attempted to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived on scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the white Lincoln MKZ was traveling northbound on Florence Road when the bicyclist that was traveling southbound on the northbound shoulder, suddenly turned and entered the roadway in front of the sedan.

The bicyclist, Claborn Joiner, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at 8:22 p.m.

The Traffic Unit continue to investigate this fatality and there is no additional information at this time.

Killeen Police Identifies Motorcyclist from Fatal Crash

Killeen, TX (November 4, 2022): Killeen Police have identified the motorcycle operator as Jacob Oswald.

This crash fatality continues to be investigated by the Traffic Unit and there is no additional information at this time.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A MOTORCYCLE FATALITY ON STAN SCHLUETER LOOP

Killeen, TX (November 4, 2022): A 22-year-old Fort Hood soldier is deceased after colliding with a vehicle.

On Thursday, November 3, 2022, at approximately 8:43 p.m., officers responded to a crash in the area of W. Stan Schlueter Loop and Hudson Drive involving a motorcycle and a SUV. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located an unresponsive male lying in the roadway. Officers started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a black Harley Davidson was traveling westbound in the inside lane of E. Stan Schlueter Loop when a black Nissan Rogue traveling southbound on Hudson Drive, failed to yield right of way at a stop sign, entering the intersection causing the motorcycle to collide with the vehicle.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 10:07 p.m.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators with the Traffic Unit continue to investigate this fatality and there is no additional information at this time.
