KPD Investigates a Fatal Crash on Little Nolan Road

Killeen Police investigates a Fatality Crash on Little Nolan.

Killeen Police responded to the 2000 block of Little Nolan Road, at 7:16 a.m., on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, after receiving a 911 call in reference to a crash.  Upon the officer’s arrival, they located a Blue Pontiac GTO and a white male lying in the grass.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the 2005 Pontiac GTO was traveling westbound on Little Nolan Road at a high rate of speed.  The driver hit the south side concrete curb, drove over the curb and into the grass.  The driver over corrected the vehicle and drove across Little Nolan Road, hitting the north side concrete curb.  The vehicle continued through the grass, driving through two chain link fences and striking the corner of a metal building.  During the course of the crash, the driver was ejected and suffered fatal injuries.

Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced 30 year-old Brian Nicholas Dick of Killeen, deceased at 7:34 a.m.

Through the investigation, it was revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Killeen.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this fatality and information will be released as it becomes available.

KPD Investigates a Late Night Robbery

Killeen Police investigate an overnight Robbery at a Convenience Store.

Killeen Police were dispatched to the Mickey’s Convenience Store located at 3802 E. Stan Schlueter Loop, on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at approximately 1:14 a.m., in reference to a robbery that had just occurred.  Upon the officers’ arrival the store clerk told them that a black male walked into the store, displayed a knife and demanded money.  The store clerk complied with the demand and the suspect fled the area eastbound.  The suspect was last seen wearing a grey hoodie, dark jeans and a red mask.

KPD Investigates a Murder on Fishpond Lane

Killeen Police Investigates a Murder on Fishpond Lane.

Killeen Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Fishpond in reference to shots fired on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at approximately 3:13 p.m.  Upon the officers’ arrival they found a black male lying in the roadway with gunshot wounds.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and suspect were involved in an ongoing dispute.  At the time of the incident, the two began a verbal altercation which became physical.  During the physical altercation, the suspect assaulted the victim with his cane and at some point discharged a firearm at the victim.   The victim, 80 year-old John Wesley Seth Jr. of Killeen, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 4:28 p.m. An autopsy has been ordered to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensics Sciences of Dallas.  Through the investigation detectives were able to identify the suspect and have taken him into custody.

This case continues to be investigated by the Killeen Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, Homicide Unit and information will be released as it becomes available.

KPD Investigates a Pursuit on Mary Jane

The Killeen Police Department investigates an overnight pursuit.

Killeen Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2008 Blue Dodge Avenger at the intersection of Veteran’s Memorial Blvd. and 8th Street, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at approximately 11:51 p.m. Officers met with the driver and obtained his information.  While the officers were verifying the information, the driver put the car in gear and fled westbound; a pursuit ensued.  The driver led officers towards Hallmark Avenue, disregarding posted speed limit signs and stop signs, and then turned into the area of Mary Jane Drive.  As the driver turned into a cul-de-sac in the 1000 block of Mary Jane Circle at a high rate of speed, the vehicle hit a curb, causing the vehicle to strike a brick wall and the side of a residence.  The suspect got out of the vehicle and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

There were three residents inside the home at the time of the crash and no injuries were reported.

KPD Needs Help Identifying a Male Suspect

Killeen Police are asking for the community’s assistance identifying a male suspect.

Officers received information about a debit/credit card abuse on Monday, May 1, 2017.  The victim told officers that an unknown person had used her debit card without her permission.  A purchase was made at the Wal-Mart, located at 1400 Lowes Blvd. in Killeen.

KPD Investigates a Fatal Crash on 16th Street

Killeen Police investigate a late night fatality on 16th Street.

Killeen Police responded to the 400 block of North 16th Street, at 1:12 a.m., on Sunday, May 21, 2017, after receiving a 911 call in reference to a crash.  Upon the officer’s arrival, they located a silver Toyota Corolla had crashed into a tree.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the 2010 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on 16th Street at a high rate of speed.  As the driver ran the stop sign at the intersection at 16th Street and Hall Avenue, the vehicle hit a dip, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and striking a large tree on its right side.  The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced 22 year-old Carlos Meza-Suarez of Killeen, deceased at 2:04 a.m.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this fatality and information will be released as it becomes available.

KPD Makes Arrests in Prostitution Operation

Killeen Police conduct a prostitution operation and arrest subjects involved.

Detectives with the Killeen Police Department Organized Crime Unit conducted an undercover online prostitution operation on Friday, May 19, 2017, after receiving numerous citizen complaints about human trafficking and the promotion of prostitution on Internet sites.

Undercover officers posted ads on different websites and ten individuals contacted the officers making agreements to exchange money for sex.  During the operation, detectives arrested seven individuals for prostitution related offenses and three for possession of a controlled substance.

The Killeen Police Department will continue to conduct follow up investigations and refer cases to the Bell County District and County Attorney’s offices

KPD Investigates Fatal Crash on Interstate Highway 14

Killeen Police investigate a fatal crash on Highway 190/Interstate Highway 14.

Killeen Police responded to IH-14, at 5:57 a.m., on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, after receiving a 911 call in reference to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male lying on the side of the roadway.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was walking northbound across IH-14 and a maroon Dodge Pickup was traveling eastbound in the center lane.  The male driver told officers that he saw a dark silhouette in the roadway and was unable to take evasive action, colliding into the pedestrian.  The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle and reported no injuries.

Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced 56 year-old Wayne Clarke of Killeen, deceased at 6:37 a.m. and he ordered  an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

KPD Asking If Anyone Can Identify Suspect in a Burglary

The Killeen Police Department is asking if anyone can identify a burglary suspect.

Killeen Police were dispatched to the Stone Hill Apartments located at 501 W. Central Texas Expressway in reference to a Burglary of a Habitation, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, after receiving a 911 call telling them an apartment had just been burglarized. Officers were told that the male suspect shown in the photo ransacked the apartment and stole several items.

The suspect is described as a black male, with tattoos on both forearms and last seen wearing a white t-shirt and dark colored jeans.

KPD Investigates an Overnight Pursuit

The Killeen Police Department is investigating an overnight pursuit.

Killeen Police Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Lexus Sedan for a traffic violation at the intersection of Veteran’s Memorial Blvd. and 42nd Street, on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at approximately 1:38 a.m. The suspect driver refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.  The suspect driver continued to flee from officers through the nearby neighborhood at high rate of speed.  The suspect driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a residence located in the 2900 block of Persimmon Drive.  The male suspect got out of the vehicle and fled on foot in an unknown direction.  Through the investigation, officers were notified that the Lexus was reported stolen out of Austin Police Department.

There were two residents inside the home at the time of the crash and one was injured. The resident has been treated and released from the hospital.
