Killeen Police Charges Woman for False Report
On Saturday, October 26, 2019, a woman reported to the Killeen Police Department that she had been pulled over by a white Ford Crown Victoria equipped with flashing red and blue lights occupied by two males. The female further stated that the males were wearing police uniforms, physically searched her and then left the area.
An investigation into the reported incident was immediately conducted by Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, General Crimes and C.O.P.S. Violent Crimes Units. This investigation revealed the woman made a false report to the officer. The incident did not happen.
On Monday, November 4, 2019, a warrant was issued for Brittany Neshay Garrett, 29, of Killeen by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke for False Report to a Police Officer. Garrett was arrested and processed into the Killeen City Jail.
“The Killeen Police Department takes the safety and trust of our citizens very seriously,” stated Chief Charles Kimble.
We would like to remind the community that if you are ever concerned about being pulled over by a police officer, you could always ensure that you pull over in a well-lit, populated area and call 911 if you feel the need to verify it is a police officer making the traffic stop.
