The Killeen Police Department is asking if anyone can identify a thief.

Officers responded to the 3700 block of Appalachian Trail on Thursday, December 22, 2016, just after 11:30pm, for a reported stolen vehicle.  The officers arrived and learned a black 2012 Ford Explorer had been stolen from the driveway.  The owner advised no one had permission to use the vehicle.

On Friday, December 23, 2016, an officer with the Harker Heights Police Department attempted to stop a Ford Explorer for a traffic violation; the driver sped off and was able to elude the officer.    The Harker Heights officer located the vehicle a short time later, abandoned and still running, in a parking lot in the 1500 block of E. VMB, Harker Heights.  The officer advised three black males were seen running from the vehicle.  The stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.

Killeen Police identify victim from shooting.

Police identified the victim from the shooting that took place on Friday, December 29, 2016, at Parmer and 22^nd St., as 40 year old Carman Latchie, of Killeen.

Killeen Police investigate early morning shooting at Parmer and 22^nd Street.

Officers were responding to a call of shots fired in the area Parmer Lane on Friday, December 30, 2016, at 5:40am.  As the officers were responding they were waved down by a passerby who saw a black male lying in the intersection of Parmer and 22^nd Street.  Officers arrived to find a black male who had been shot; he was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC) in critical condition.

The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 8:15am; he ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Detectives with the Killeen Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, Homicide Unit continue to investigate this case.  Information will be released as it becomes available.

On December 31, 2016, detectives learned that John Eric Saenz was in the Austin area and they began working with members of the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force.  After further investigation members of the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force were able to locate him during a traffic stop. Saenz was taken into custody without incident at approximately 8:00pm; he was transported to the Travis County Jail where he awaits extradition.

The Killeen Police Department would like to thank everyone who assisted with the arrest of John Eric Saenz.

Killeen Police need help locating a wanted man who is believed to be Armed and Dangerous.

Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Bonnie Drive at approximately 11:11pm, on Friday, December 9, 2016, after receiving a 911 call in reference to shots fired. Upon the officers’ arrival they located 41 year old Jason Francisco Munayco with a gunshot wound.  Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced him deceased at 12:24am, on Saturday, December 10, 2016; he ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Through the investigation detectives determined John Eric Saenz was at the residence during this shooting.  This case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging Saenz with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.  Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke issued a warrant for his arrest and suggested a bond of $500,000.  Detectives would also like to speak to him about his involvement in this Homicide.

This case continues to be investigated and information will be released as it becomes available.

Detectives have received a photo of a black male who is believed to have some involvement in the Homicide of Donte Samuels, on Thursday, December 22, 2016.  Samuels was found deceased in the yard of a residence in the 300 block of S. 56^th Street.

Tarah Ann Nichols was located on Friday, December 30, 2016 in the area of Stonetree Drive and Veteran’s Memorial Blvd.  She was taken into custody for a warrant charging her with Tampering with or Fabricating Evidence.  On Saturday, December 31, 2016, Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned Nichols and set her bond at $500,000; she is currently in the Killeen City Jail.

 Detectives continue to investigate this case and information will be released as it becomes available.

Killeen Police detectives are interested in speaking with a person about the Homicide on S. 56^th Street.

Detectives with the Killeen Police Department Criminal Investigations Homicide Division are interested in speaking with a Tarah Ann Nichols.  They believe she has information that would be pertinent to the Homicide investigation where 22 year old Donte Javon Samuels, was found deceased in the front yard of a residence in the 300 block of S. 56^th Street, on Thursday, December 22, 2016.

Nichols is also possibly with her son, a 16 month old white male.  Child Services is concerned for the welfare of the child due to neglectful supervision.

Killeen Police investigating a report of a missing person.

Officers received information after a family member entered the police department to report her brother missing.  The female advised the last time she saw her brother, Kenneth Mixon, was the morning of November 25, 2016.  She advised he left his residence on Coffield Lane and has not been seen since.

Kenneth Mixon is described as a black male, 5’9” tall and weighs 139 pounds; he has black hair and brown eyes.  Kenneth was last seen wearing a white tee shirt, black jean shorts and tennis shoes.  He drives a maroon Mazda 4dr sedan.

Killeen Police investigate shooting in the 1000 block of N. 12^th Street.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of N. 12^th Street, Wednesday, December 28, 2016, after receiving a 911 call just before 10:30pm, about a shooting.  The officers met with the 33 year old victim who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  The victim was immediately transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in serious condition.

After speaking with people who were in the area at the time, the officers were told shots were heard and shortly after they heard the victim call for help.
