Killeen Police Investigating Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash on Rosewood Drive

Killeen, TX (July 30, 2026): Investigators with the Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of one driver.

On Thursday, July 30, 2026, at approximately 3:01 a.m., the Killeen Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported vehicle fire in the 4100 block of Rosewood Drive. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a wooded area east of the roadway and was engulfed in flames.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2015 Dodge Journey SUV was traveling southbound on Rosewood Drive at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control while negotiating a curve. The vehicle crossed the median and the northbound lanes before leaving the roadway and entering a wooded area, where it struck a tree and caught fire.

The vehicle was destroyed by the fire, trapping the driver inside. Investigators determined the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at 3:05 a.m. Judge Johnson ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas. The driver’s identity is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

The Traffic Unit continues to investigate this fatality and there is no additional information at this time.
