Killeen Police Investigate a Pedestrian Fatality

Killeen, TX (January 24, 2022): Investigators with the Killeen Police Traffic Unit are investigating a pedestrian fatality on Rancier Avenue.

On Thursday, January 13, 2022, at approximately 6:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Rancier Avenue and N. Twin Creek Drive in reference to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon the officer’s arrival, they located a male lying in the grassy area with major injuries. The pedestrian was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White hospital in Temple.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing E. Rancier Ave. from the southside of the roadway to the northside. He failed to yield right of way to a white GMC Terrain that was traveling westbound on E. Rancier Ave. in the outside lane and was struck.

On Monday, January 24, 2022, at approximately 6:43 a.m., the pedestrian, 50-year-old Michael Bishop succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased by Scott and White hospital staff and Justice of the Peace Keith Reed.

The investigation is ongoing and at this time no other information will be released.
