KPD Identifies Murder Suspect

UPDATE – On Wednesday, March 24, 2020, this case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging Jovino Jamel Roy, 22, for Murder.  Roy was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke and set his bond at $1,000,000.  Roy is currently is the Bell County Jail.

Killeen Police Investigate a Late Night Shooting.

On Monday, March 23, 2020, officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Dustin Court at approximately 10:55p.m., in reference a 911 call about a shooting victim.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located an unresponsive male lying in the front of a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation that became physical.  During the altercation, the suspect fired several shots at the victim and fled the area.  Officers in the area located the suspect at a nearby convenience store; he was taken into custody and transported to the Killeen City Jail.

The victim, Michael Steven Wardrobe, 22, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Daryl Peters at 11:22 p.m. at the scene.  He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, Homicide Unit, continue to investigate this case and information will be released as it becomes available.
