Killeen Police Officer Arrested for Filing False Report.
As a result of a criminal investigation undertaken by the Killeen Police Department, Officer Benjamin Harp, 44, a five-year officer, has been charged with filing a false report with the department. On February 24, 2020, Harp contacted on duty officers in reference to his privately owned vehicle being burglarized. Taken in the burglary was Killeen Police Department property. Harp provided a statement to investigating officers on scene that was proven false during the course of the investigation. An arrest warrant was obtained and Harp turned himself in to the Bell County Jail on March 6, 2020. Harp has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation.
“The actions of this officer do not reflect the integrity displayed by the employees of the Killeen Police Department every day,” Chief Kimble said. “Accountability is paramount in our organization.”
