KPD Investigates Death on Libra Drive
Killeen Police investigate Aggravated Assault on Libra Drive.
Officers responded to the area of Libra Drive and Milky Way, just before 7:00pm on Thursday, December 22, 2016, after receiving a 911 call of a man lying in the front yard of a residence. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a 52 year old white male lying face down in the front yard of a residence in the 500 block of Libra Drive; the male was unresponsive and showed to have physical injuries. The Killeen Fire Department paramedics also arrived and began CPR on the male; he was immediately transported to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights and subsequently transferred to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was assaulted by a roommate during an altercation; he was later seen by a passerby in the front yard unconscious. The suspect was interviewed by detectives and later taken into custody, the case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging 22 year old Killeen resident, Frankie Nathaniel Boyd III, with Aggravated Assault. Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned Boyd and set his bond at $100,000; he is currently in the Bell County Jail.
On Saturday, December 24, 2016, the victim, Randy Joe Oliver, a Killeen resident, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Don Engleking.
This case continues to be investigated by the Killeen Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, Homicide Unit; information will be released as it becomes available.
