KPD Investigates Crash on Trenton and Willowsprings
Killeen Police investigate crash in the area of Trenton and Willow Springs Drive.
Officers responded to the area of Willowsprings and Trenton, after receiving 911 calls advising a pickup truck ran into a parked 18 wheeler trailer. The officers arrived to find a gold Dodge Ram pickup partially pinned under an 18 wheeler trailer and the lone occupant was unable to get out. The Killeen Fire Department arrived and immediately assessed the situation and began working to free the driver from the pickup. Two wreckers were summoned to assist with lifting the trailer and pulling the pickup from underneath. Once the vehicle was removed the firefighters worked quickly to free the driver; the paramedics worked from their arrival to make sure the driver was in good condition as he continued to be conscious and alert. Once he was removed from the vehicle, he was transported by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in stable condition with non life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed the Dodge pickup was traveling northbound in the 1100 block of Willowsprings Road when for unknown reasons, the male driver failed to maintain a single lane leaving the roadway on the east side, hitting a guide wire for a utility pole, hitting a sign for the apartment complex, hitting a gas meter and traveling north through the field area and finally coming to a stop under the stationary 18 wheeler trailer, pinning the driver inside.
This crash continues to be investigated and information will be provided as it becomes available.
