Killeen Police Arrest Former KPD Officer

Killeen Police arrested a former KPD Officer after Bell County Grand Jury issues an indictment.

Christopher R. Morris

In December 2015, Killeen Police were notified of a possible Sexual Assault that occurred earlier in the year involving a Killeen Police Officer.   Upon receiving this information, the officer was placed on administrative leave and criminal and internal investigations were initiated immediately.

The internal investigation was concluded and as a result, Officer Christopher R. Morris’ employment was terminated on June 6, 2016, for violation of multiple departmental general orders and violation of Local Civil Service Rules and Regulations.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division determined that there was sufficient evidence to support probable cause for criminal charges.  This case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and subsequently forwarded to the Bell County Grand Jury on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.  The Bell County Grand Jury issued a true bill for Christopher R. Morris charging him with Sexual Assault and Official Oppression.

Chief Baldwin stated “Christopher Morris’ actions violated the trust and faith placed in him by the community and this department.  His conduct is inexcusable and will not be tolerated. He will be held accountable for any criminal conduct in a court of law.”

Morris was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke who issued a $100,000 bond for each charge; totaling $200,000; he will be transferred to the Bell County Jail.

Because this investigation is continuing and a civil service appeal is pending, there will be no further information released, interviews given or further comments at this time.
