KPD Arrests Woman For Injury To A Child

Killeen Police Department makes an arrest in an injury to a child case.

On 01/29/2016, KISD administration reported that an eleven year old child had suffered multiple injuries to various parts of his body.  Killeen Police officers, along with Child Protective Services, responded to the school and began an investigation. The child was sent to the McLane’s Children’s Hospital for immediate medical treatment with the assistance of forensic nurses.  The joint investigation revealed the child had suffered continuous physical abuse for a period of approximately five months.  The child had sustained various injuries to his head torso, arms, legs and groin.  The child’s mother was located and interviewed by Killeen Police Detectives.  Through the investigation it was determined that the mother was involved in this abuse and she was subsequently placed under arrest and booked into the Killeen City Jail.

This case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was issued charging Raquel Madelin Callejas Ortiz with Injury to a Child; she is currently in the Bell County Jail under a $100,000 bond and a magistrate’s order of emergency protection was issued on behalf of the victim child.
