KPD Identifies Aquatics Center Burglars
On Saturday, June 6, 2015, KPD Burglary detectives responded to a reported burglary at the City of Killeen Lion’s Club Park Family Aquatics Center located at 1800 E Stan Schlueter Loop. The facility is an expansive water park with pools and water amusements.
Employees of the park advised that upon arriving to work at about 8:00am on June 6, 2015, they immediately discovered severe damage to the office and concession area. Large rocks were used to shatter windows which enabled entry into offices and food supply areas. The interior office had been ransacked in an apparent attempt to locate money and/or valuables. Many of the suspects were seen on surveillance video using the park’s pool and water facilities. Food and beverages taken from the park’s concession area were being eaten and wrappers and drink bottles were scattered about. Approximately $1000.00 worth of concession food items were taken from the park. A complete estimate of the damage sustained at the park is pending.
Burglary detectives immediately processed the scene for anything of evidentiary value and they began to view all video footage. One of the suspects depicted on video was identified within hours of police arrival.
On June 8th KPD Burglary detectives were able to locate all suspects observed on video and they were contacted and interviewed. These interviews led to the identification of all suspects who consisted of ten (10) juveniles and one (1) adult. A quantity of items stolen from the park were recovered and returned to park employees.
KPD Burglary detectives were able to obtain confessions from all suspects. This case will be referred to the Bell County Juvenile Attorney’s Office and to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for adjudication.
The Killeen Police Department would like to thank everyone who assisted in identifying the suspects involved in this burglary.
This case continues to be investigated and information will be released as it becomes available.
