KPD To Conduct A Special Enforcement Traffic Detail

The Killeen Police Department Special Operations Section, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit will conduct a special Multi-Agency enforcement operation on Thursday, October 30th, 2014, for violations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration CFR 49, Texas Transportation Code, and for Texas License and Weight violations.

Inspections will be conducted on Commercial vehicles in commerce operating in the City Limits of Killeen. Commercial vehicles are defined as vehicles that have a GVRW, Combined GVRW, Registered weight, or Actual weight of 26001 lbs. or more and Vehicles carrying any placard amount of Hazmat material.

This special enforcement operation is conducted to make sure large commercial trucks are complying with Federal and State laws and the vehicles are kept in a safe operational manner.   Due to their large size and weight, the vehicles need more distance to stop and maneuver through traffic. Trucks will be inspected for the following: Tires, Log Books, Tarps, Brakes, Frames, and load Securement, just to name a few.
