The Killeen Police Department is asking the community’s assistance in identifying a Robbery suspect.

Killeen Police responded to the 7 Day Food Store, located at 1408 E. Rancier Avenue, on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 7:19 a.m., after receiving a 911 call telling them the store had just been robbed.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they learned that an armed male suspect entered the store and demanded money from the clerk; he then fled the store on foot.

The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, approximately 6’ tall and was wearing a gray hooded shirt, a green jacket and blue pants.

UPDATE – March 25, 2017

Killeen Police make Arrest in Death of an Infant

The investigation revealed that the suspect, Zachary Kadetz, had intentionally caused the injuries to the infant.  The Bell County District Attorney’s Office issued a complaint charging 21 year-old Zachary Kadetz with Injury to a Child.  Kadetz was arrested on March 24, 2017 and Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned him and set his bond at $1,000,000.

Officers responded to the 2900 block of Zephyr Road at 8:08pm, on Saturday, February 18, 2017, after receiving a 911 call in reference to an unresponsive and not breathing three month old male infant.  Upon the officer’s arrival, they immediately began performing CPR until Killeen Fire Department Paramedics arrival.  Once the paramedics arrived, they immediately transported the infant to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights and was subsequently transported to McLane Children’s Hospital.  On February 24, 2017, Justice of the Peace David Barfield pronounced the infant deceased at 3:35pm and ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The name of the child will not be released at this time.

This case is currently being reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division Special Victims Unit continue to investigate this death and information will be released as it becomes available.

Killeen Police investigate a late night shooting at Liberty 6 Motel.

Killeen Police were dispatched to the Liberty 6 Motel located at 526 E. Veteran’s Memorial Boulevard, on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at 11:04 p.m., in reference to shots fired.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they found all parties had fled the scene.  A female gunshot victim was later located at Metroplex hospital and was subsequently transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital. The 23 year-old victim is listed in stable condition.

The suspects are described as a black male wearing all black clothing and a black female wearing all white clothing.

This case continues to be investigated and information will be provided as it becomes available

Killeen Police make Arrest following Robbery at the Fast Times Convenience Store.

Officers responded to the Fast Times Convenience Store located at 3300 E. Veterans Memorial Boulevard, at 6:57 p.m., on Thursday, March 23, 2017, after learning the store had just been robbed.   As the officers were responding to the Robbery, they were advised of the description of the suspect; an officer who was in the vicinity of the store saw the suspect standing on Veterans Memorial Blvd.    As the officer stopped out on the suspect, a confrontation followed that ended when the officer tased him.  The suspect was able to break away and led officers on a foot chase.  Officers were able to apprehend the male suspect a few blocks away and he was transported to the Killeen City Jail.

The case is currently being reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and information will be released as it becomes available.

Killeen Police conduct a Death Investigation on Green Avenue.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Green Avenue on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at 6:18 p.m., after receiving a 911 call in reference to a shooting victim.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male juvenile lying on the floor with a gunshot wound.  The officers immediately started to perform first aid until paramedics arrived. The 13 year-old victim was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.

The name of the victim has been withheld since he is a juvenile.

Detectives continue to investigate this case and more information will be released as it becomes available.

The Killeen Police Department’s Homicide Unit is asking for the community’s assistance in locating Arsenio Joseph Griffin.  He is a person of interest regarding the Homicide that occurred on Tucker Drive on November 9, 2015. 

The Killeen Police Department is investigating a parking lot shooting on Tucker Drive.

Officer responded to a report of shots fired in the 2800 block of Tucker Drive on Monday, November 9, 2015, at 5:20pm.  As the officers were responding, they were told that a man had been shot in the parking lot of 2814 Tucker.  The officers arrived to find a 31 year old black male suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim, Robert Byrd Jr., was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased by medical authorities at 8:28pm.  Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Killeen Police investigate a late night crash on Interstate Highway 14.

Killeen Police responded to a 911 call in reference to a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 11:22 p.m.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they found a white male lying on the ground near the Trimmier Exit off ramp; he was immediately airlifted to the Baylor Scott and White Hospital in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a white Ford F350 was traveling westbound in the middle lane on IH-14 when the driver noticed a pedestrian attempting to cross northbound on the interstate.  As the driver attempted to change lanes to the outside lane, the left side of her vehicle struck the pedestrian.  A white Chevy Sonic and an unknown vehicle were also traveling westbound in the outside and exit lanes, when the pedestrian was seen in the roadway near the exit ramp.  The pedestrian was struck first by the Chevy Sonic and subsequently struck by the unknown vehicle, which fled the scene. The occupants of the vehicles reported no injuries.

The current condition of the 44 year-old male pedestrian is critical but stable.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this crash and information will be released as it becomes available.

The Killeen Police Department is investigating a pursuit.

Killeen Police Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2007 GMC Suburban at the Long Branch Park located at 1101 Branch Drive, on March 15, 2017, at approximately 11:51 p.m. for a curfew violation.  The suspect driver refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.  The suspect driver continued to flee from officers through the nearby neighborhood at high rate of speed.  The suspect driver continued traveling southbound on W.S. Young Drive towards the East Gate.  The suspect driver drove past the checkpoint onto Fort Hood before the barrier was deployed.  The suspect vehicle was later located without a suspect.  Narcotics were located inside the vehicle.

KPD Focusing on Extra Patrols on St. Patrick’s Day.

The Killeen Police Department will have extra patrols out on Friday, March 17, 2017, focusing on impaired drivers.  The extra patrols are a result of the department’s participation in a Texas Department of Transportation funded grant known as the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP).   Officers working with the STEP program will focus on locating and arresting impaired or intoxicated drivers who are presenting a hazardous risk.  It is the goal of this program to prevent potential injuries and loss of life to local drivers and travelers.

If you see a driver you believe to be impaired or driving recklessly, please call 911 with the vehicle’s description, direction of travel and license plate number if possible.

Killeen Police are asking the community’s help to confirm the identity of this suspect.

Killeen Police responded to the Subway Restaurant located at 1100 Old FM 440 on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 3:42 a.m., after receiving a 911 call about a robbery.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male victim with a gunshot wound; he was immediately transported to the Baylor Scott & White Hospital in critical condition where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the restaurant wearing a ski mask.  The security guard on duty approached the suspect and words were exchanged. After words were exchanged, the victim was fatally shot. The suspect is described as a male of dark complexion, approximately 5’6” – 5’8” tall, wearing a dark gray sweatshirt, black shorts with red and white trim and white tennis shoes.
