Killeen Police Investigate a Late-Pedestrian Crash

Killeen, TX (September 18, 2024): On September 18, 2024, at around 1:29 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call about a crash in the 5600 block of East Stagecoach Road. Killeen Police Department Accident Investigators arrived at the scene, where a preliminary investigation revealed that an unidentified dark-colored vehicle failed to stay in its lane, veered onto the sidewalk, and struck a pedestrian who was walking his dog. The vehicle then fled the scene.

The pedestrian was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White in Temple, where he remains in critical but stable condition, pending surgery. Unfortunately, the pedestrian’s dog was killed in the crash.

Initial investigation has indicated that a possible suspect vehicle could be a darker (gray or silver) smaller car, possibly a Honda. The vehicle will have front end damage.

Killeen Police Charges 24-Year-Old Male with the Fourteenth Murder of 2024

Killeen, TX (September 14, 2024): Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division identified a suspect and presented this case to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for review. On Friday, September 13, 2024, a complaint was returned charging 24-Year-Old Dimani Phillip Gaddis with Murder. An arrest warrant was issued by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson.

Gaddis was previously arrested on other unrelated charges and is currently in the Bell County Jail. Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey arraigned Gaddis and set his bond at $1,250,000.

The Killeen Police Department would like to thank the Community for sharing videos and assisting with the identification of this suspect.

Killeen, TX (August 26, 2024): Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division have identified the victim as 68-year-old Vivian Delois McClain.

Detectives continue to actively investigate this incident and there is no additional information at this time.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE THE FOURTEENTH MURDER IN THE CITY OF KILLEEN
Killeen, TX (August 25, 2024): On Sunday August 25, 2024, at approximately 4:33 a.m., Killeen Police Officers responded to the 2300 block of Andover Drive in reference to a shots fired call. While in route, dispatchers informed them of an accident that occurred in the 1000 block of Westover Drive.

Upon the officers’ arrival they located an unconscious female victim inside a crashed vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Nicola James 5:04 a.m. She ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

There is no threat to the community related to this incident.

Detectives with the Robbery-Homicide Unit are asking anyone with videos or security footage of this area to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at (254) 501-8830.

This investigation is active and there is no additional information at this time.

Killeen Police are Investigating an Early Morning Crash

Killeen, TX (August 18, 2024): Investigators with the Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit are investigating a crash involving a pedestrian.

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 4:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of S Fort Hood Road in reference to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.  Upon the officers arrival, they located a male in roadway with severe injuries.  He was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing S Fort Hood Road west to east. When a black Chevrolet SUV, traveling north on S Fort Hood Road, entered the left turn lane in preparation to turn onto W Elms Road and struck the pedestrian, who may have paused while crossing.

The pedestrian was not crossing at the lighted intersection at W Elms Road and was in a poorly lit area, wearing dark-colored clothing.

No injuries were reported by the driver and two passengers of the SUV.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this crash and there is no further information at this time.

Killeen Police Investigate the Thirteenth Murder of 2024

Killeen, TX (August 9, 2024): Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the death of an adult male.

On Thursday, August 8, 2024, at approximately 10:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East Hallmark Avenue in reference to reports of shots fired and a man down. Upon the officers’ arrival they located a deceased male with gunshot wounds in the parking lot.

The victim was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Nicola James at 11:08 pm.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Killeen Police are Investigating the Twelfth Murder in the City of Killeen

Killeen, TX(August 8, 2024): On Thursday, August 8, 2024, at approximately 3:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Charisse Street in reference to a call
of a deceased person in a residence. 

Upon the officers’ arrival they located a deceased 21 year-old female and a deceased 22 year-old male, both with gunshot wounds.

The female and male were pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Nicola James at 5:26 p.m.

The identity of the deceased has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

At this time, it is believed that this is a Murder-Suicide, and there is no current threat to the safety of the community related to this investigation.

Killeen Police Investigate the Eleventh Murder in the City of Killeen

Killeen, TX (August 5, 2024): Detectives with the Criminal Investigation are investigating the death of one male.

On Sunday, August 4, 2024, at approximately 7:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Gemini Lane in reference to a shooting victim. Upon the officers’ arrival they located a 19-year-old male victim, subsequently identified as Keman S. Greenidge, suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers began life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, and Greenidge was air lifted to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Keith Reed at 10:28 p.m.

Detectives have identified a person of interest, who is an associate of the victim.

There is no current threat to the community.

Killeen Police Investigate an Officer Involved Shooting on Glynhill Court

Killeen, TX (August 1, 2024): On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at approximately 9:09 p.m. a 911 call was received in reference to an armed subject. Officers were dispatched at 9:12 p.m.to the area, with the first responding officer arriving at 9:17 p.m. The officer observed a male with a backpack walking in circles and waited for backup due to signs of potential mental distress. The second officer arrived at 9:24 PM.

The officers asked the male to put down the backpack when he retrieved a black semi-automatic weapon and moved it upward and outward. One officer, fearing the male was about to shoot, discharged his duty weapon. It is unclear if the officer struck the male as an autopsy is pending. The male simultaneously placed the weapon towards him, taking his life.

The officer who discharged his weapon is a 2-year veteran, has been placed on administrative leave as per protocol. The second officer is a 16-year veteran.

The Killeen Police Department Internal Affairs Unit will conduct an internal investigation and the Criminal Investigation Division will conduct the criminal investigation.

The name of the deceased, a 25-year-old male, will not be released out of respect for his family.

This investigation is active and there is no additional information at this time.

Killeen Police Investigate a Single Car Crash Fatality

Killeen, TX (July 25, 2024): On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at approximately 9:47 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop near E Stan Schlueter Loop and E Elms Road for a traffic violation on a Chevrolet Cruze. The driver refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit.

The chase ended near Stagecoach Road and Bear River Trail when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed through the fences of several backyards before coming to a rest. The driver was found unconscious, and despite life-saving measures, 25-year-old Carlos Joseph Christian, was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at 10:04 p.m.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this fatal crash and there is no further information at this time.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE THE SEVENTH MURDER IN THE CITY OF KILLEEN

Killeen, TX (July 15, 2024): On Monday, July 15, 2024, at approximately 2:31 p.m., Killeen Police Officers responded to the 600 block of Avenue I in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they found a 17-year-old male victim inside a residence with a gunshot wound. Justice of the Peace Nicola James determined the estimated time of death at 4:19 p.m.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Killeen Police Identifies Motorcycle Operator from Fatal Crash

Killeen, TX (July 8, 2024): UPDATE – Investigators from the Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit have identified the motorcycle operator as Jeffery Ronald Rich. The investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH

Killeen, TX (July 1, 2024): Investigators with the Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit are investigating the fatal crash of a 39-year-old male.

On Sunday, June 30, 2024, at approximately 11:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. and Hackberry Drive in reference to a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014 GMC cargo van was traveling southbound on MLK and was turning left onto Hackberry Drive, when a 2017 Suzuki motorcycle, occupied by two, traveling northbound on MLK, struck the cargo van at a very high rate of speed.

The operator of the motorcycle unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Nicola James at 11:51 p.m. The passenger, a 27-year-old male, was transported by Killeen Fire Department ambulance to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in critical condition.

No other injuries were reported.

The motorcycle operator was not wearing a helmet, the passenger was wearing a helmet.
The name of the deceased has been withheld pending next of kin notification.
