Killeen Police Investigate a Murder on Evergreen
Killeen, TX (October 9, 2022): Killeen Police are actively investigating the Murder of a 14-year-old male.
On Sunday, October 9, 2022, at approximately 6:10 a.m., Killeen Police Officers responded to a call about a shooting victim in the 200 block of Evergreen Drive. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Killeen EMS arrived and performed life saving measures. The victim succumbed to his injuries and Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson pronounced him deceased at 7:15 a.m. on scene.
Due to the victim’s age, his name will not be released.
This is the sixteenth Murder in the City of Killeen for 2022.

Killeen Police Investigate the Fifteenth Murder for 2022
Killeen, TX (October 6, 2022): Killeen Police are actively investigating the Murder of a 55-year-old male.
On June 24, 2022, Officers with the Killeen Police Department were dispatched at approximately 2:50 a.m. to the 1800 block of N. 4th Street in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located one victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived. He was transported to Baylor Scott and White in Temple.
The victim, Joe Sidney Williams Junior succumbed to his injuries on August 3, 2022, and was pronounced deceased at the hospital by Justice of the Peace Theodore Duffield. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
Detectives with the Robbery-Homicide Unit received the final autopsy, and it was determined that the death of the victim was ruled Murder.

Killeen Police Investigate a Hit and Run Fatality
Killeen, TX (October 3, 2022): Investigators with the Killeen Police Traffic Unit are investigating a pedestrian fatality on Fort Hood Street.
On Sunday, October 2, 2022, at approximately 9:12 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of S. Fort Hood Street in reference to a crash involving a pedestrian. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located an unconscious male lying in the roadway. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 10:22 p.m.
The preliminary investigation determined that the pedestrian was crossing the Fort Hood Street from the eastside of the roadway to the westside. When a greyish/black SUV-type vehicle traveling northbound in the inside lane of S. Fort Hood Street struck the pedestrian. A second vehicle traveling behind the SUV subsequently struck the pedestrian. The first vehicle failed to stop and render aid and fled the scene. The second vehicle, a Nissan Murano, came to a stop.
The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Witnesses on the scene were able to report the first vehicle was grey or black in color and was traveling with no active headlights. Investigators with the Traffic Unit are looking for a greyish/ black SUV with front-end damage along with a broken headlight.

Killeen Police Charge Suspect with Murder
Killeen, TX (September 30, 2022): Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division Robbery-Homicide Unit received three complaints from the Bell County District Attorney’s Office charging 40-year-old Antonio Bernard Heath with Murder, Tampering with Evidence and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned Heath, setting his total bond at $1,100,000. Heath is awaiting transport to the Bell County Jail
Detectives continue to investigate this Murder and there is no additional information at this time.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A MURDER ON LEO LANE
Killeen, TX (September 29, 2022): Killeen Police are actively investigating the Murder of a 30-year-old male.
Officers with the Killeen Police Department were dispatched at approximately 2:38 a.m. to the 600 block of Leo Lane on Thursday, September 29, 2022, in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived. The victim, Denzell Roderick Jordan, was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 3:30 a.m. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a domestic incident occurred at the residence when the suspect displayed a weapon and shot the victim. The suspect fled prior to police arriving.
Through the investigation, detectives located and arrested the suspect, who is currently in the Killeen City Jail.
This is the fourteenth Murder in the City of Killeen for this year.
Detectives are actively investigating this Murder and there is no additional information at this time.

Killeen Police Investigate a Murder on Leo Lane
Killeen, TX (September 29, 2022): Killeen Police are actively investigating the Murder of a 30-year-old male.
Officers with the Killeen Police Department were dispatched at approximately 2:38 a.m. to the 600 block of Leo Lane on Thursday, September 29, 2022, in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived. Killeen Police Arrest Second Murder Suspect
Killeen, TX (August 17, 2022): A 20-year-old is currently in jail for the Murder of Yolanda N’Gaojia.
On August 13, 2022, the Bell County District Attorney’s Office issued a complaint charging Demario Jabar Moore with Murder. On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, officers with the Killeen Police Department Violent Crime Action Team and members of the U.S. Marshals Service -Lone Star Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Moore. On Wednesday, August 17, 2022, Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned Moore and set his bond at $1,000,000. Moore is currently in the Bell County Jail.
Detectives continue to actively investigate this case and there is no additional information at this time.

Killeen, TX (August 13, 2022): A 17-year-old is currently in jail for the Murder of Yolanda N’Gaojia.
On Saturday, August 13, 2022, this case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging Christian Lamar Weston with Murder. Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson arraigned Weston and ordered him to be Held with No Bond. Weston was also arraigned on an unrelated Unlicensed Carrying of a Weapon where that bond was set at $5,000. Weston is awaiting transport to the Bell County Jail.
Detectives continue to actively investigate this case and there is no additional information at this time.

Killeen, TX (March 22, 2022): Killeen Police are actively investigating the ninth Murder in the City of Killeen.
Officers with the Killeen Police Department were dispatched on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at approximately 5:03 p.m., to the 13000 block of State Highway 195 in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located two victims who had been shot.
One victim, a 52-year-old female, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at 6:56 p.m. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas. The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The second victim received non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released at the scene.

Killeen Police Investigate a Fatality on Clear Creek Road
Killeen, TX (August 13, 2022): Investigators with the Traffic Unit are investigating a hit and run fatality crash.
On Saturday, August 13, 2022, at approximately 12:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Mohawk Drive and S. Clear Creek Road in reference to a single motorcycle crash. Upon the officers arrival, they located an unconscious male laying in the roadway.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Clear Creek Road when he lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a curve. The operator crashed in the grassy median causing him to be ejected and land in the inside lane of Clear Creek Road. When a separate unknown vehicle, traveling northbound on Clear Creek Road, struck the operator. The driver failed to stop and render aid and continued to travel northbound.
The victim, 23-year-old, Jesse Robert Cruz, was pronounced deceased at 3:27 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at the scene.
The victim, an active duty soldier, was wearing a helmet.
Investigators are looking for a gray in color pickup truck with major undercarriage damage.
Investigators with the Traffic Unit continue to investigate this fatality and ask if anyone has any information to contact the Bell County Crime Stoppers at 254-526-(TIPS) 8477.

Killeen Police Department Joins in National Night Out 2022
Killeen, TX (August 3, 2022): Killeen Police Department joins cities nationwide for America’s night out against crime.
On Tuesday, October 4, 2022, neighborhoods throughout Killeen are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “39th National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event.
National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
From 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on October 4th, residents in neighborhoods throughout Killeen and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Neighborhoods are encouraged to host a variety of events such as block parties, cookouts, contests, and youth activities. Call or email to register your neighborhood so they will get a visit from the police department, fire department and McGruff the Crime Dog.
“The National Night Out program is an outstanding event to keep neighbors in unity and strengthen their relationship with their first responders. On October 4th, we encourage citizens of Killeen and neighborhoods nationwide to join forces with us to give crime and drugs a going away party. It’s also a chance to have a really good time!” said Chief Charles Kimble.

Killeen Police Investigate a Pedestrian Fatality on Elms Road
Killeen, TX (July 25, 2022) Investigators with the Traffic Unit are investigating a pedestrian fatality.
On Friday, July 22, 2022, at approximately 1:39 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1300 BLK of W Elms RD in reference to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was standing on the eastbound sidewalk and failed to yield right of way to a motor vehicle that was traveling east in the outside lane when she stepped into the roadway. The pedestrian was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition.
The victim, 24-year-old Eliana Leigh Shoemate, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 3:15 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.
No injuries were reported by the sole occupant of the vehicle.
There are no pending criminal charges for this crash.
Investigators with the Traffic Unit continue to investigate this fatality and there is no other information at this time.
