Officers were dispatched at approximately 5:52 p.m. to the 1600 block of 4th Street on Friday, October 20, 2017, after receiving a 911 call in reference to shots fired. While officers were in route they were notified about a shooting victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a 29 year-old male victim laying in the roadway. He was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in stable condition.

No one is in custody at this time.

The investigation is on going and information will be released as it becomes available.

October 17, 2017 – UPDATE

The missing man, Robert David Keller, has been located and returned home safely.  We would like to thank everyone for their assistance in locating Mr. Keller.

 Killeen Police are asking for the community’s help locating a missing man.

On Monday, October 16, 2017, at approximately 7:23 p.m., Officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Spring Branch Drive, after receiving a call from a woman who said her 66 year-old husband was last seen around 5:00 p.m.  Upon the officers arrival they learned that the woman and her husband were in a verbal argument and he left the residence on foot.  She told officers she believed he is in the beginning stages Dementia but has not been diagnosed.

Robert David Keller is a 66 year-old white male with salt and pepper mid length hair and gray blue eyes. He is approximately 6’3 and weighs approximately 240 pounds and was last seen wearing a light blue t-shirt, a brown jacket, dark blue jeans and white sneakers.  He is on several medications and missed his doses.

The Killeen Police Department is asking anyone if they have seen Mr. Keller or know of his whereabouts to contact them at 254-501-8800.

The Killeen Police Department is asking for assistance identifying a Robbery suspect.

On Sunday, October 15, 2017, at 9:00 p.m., Killeen Police responded to the Family Dollar Store, located at 4802 Bridgewood Drive, after receiving a 911 call telling them the store had just been robbed.

As the officers were responding they learned that an armed male entered the store and demanded money from the clerk; he then fled the store on foot.  The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’ to 6’5” tall, weighing approximately 225 pounds and was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black jeans and a blue bandana covering his face.

Detectives with the Killeen Police Department are investigating multiple Aggravated Robbery reports filed between October 8^th and 11^th, 2017.  The victims advised that they met the suspect through on online website and agreed to meet to purchase items.

Through subsequent investigation, detectives were led to a 16 year-old male juvenile suspect who was arrested on Thursday, October 12, 2017.  The juvenile was transported to the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center. A search warrant was conducted at the residence of the juvenile, where property belonging to the victims was recovered.

This suspect is believed to be involved in additional Aggravated Robberies and the investigation will continue.

The Killeen Police Department encourages the public to utilize our Safe Exchange Zone located in the lobby of the Police Headquarters at 3304 Community Blvd. when meeting for online sales.

A few tips regarding meeting strangers for sales and dating include:

1. Trust your instincts. If it sounds too good to be true, it normally is.
2. In the case of sales, don’t go alone.
3. Insist on meeting at a public place such as the KPD Safe Exchange Zone.
4. Do not meet in a secluded area.
5. Do not invite strangers into your home, and do not go to theirs.
6. Be cautious when buying/selling high value items.
7. Perform the transaction during daylight hours.
8. Tell a friend or family member about your intentions and where you will be.
9. Take your mobile phone with you.

This warning is not necessarily directed at legitimate sales and dating websites, although common sense and caution should always be exercised when meeting a stranger for the first time.

On Thursday, October 12, 2017, the Killeen Police Department was advised of inappropriate conduct by a teacher.

In cooperation with the Killeen Independent School District, Detectives with the Killeen Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division are conducting an investigation into the allegations by eighth-grade students at Palo Alto Middle School.

On Sunday, October 8, 2017, shortly after 9:00 p.m., Officers were dispatched to the area of Gemini Lane in reference to an aggravated robbery.  The victim told officers that they were approached by several black males who were armed with a gun.  The suspects allegedly demanded the victims to hand over their belongings and money and were last seen leaving the area in a white sedan.  A few minutes later, Officers responded to the 4900 block of Teal Dr in reference to a similar robbery.

Two more robberies were reported just after midnight on Monday, October 9, 2017. Officers were dispatched to the first robbery in the 2600 block of Maria Drive, where the victims reported they were robbed at gunpoint.  The suspects were said to have fled the area in a white sedan with the victim’s wallet and cell phones.  The second call was reported from the 4100 block of Bowles Drive.  The suspects’ descriptions and method of operation appeared similar to that of the previous three robberies. While officers were in route, they located a white sedan in the area matching the description of the suspect vehicle reported by the victims.  The officers’ conducted a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle and detained two juveniles and two adults.

Through subsequent investigation, officers’ located property belonging to two of the victims.  The juveniles were transported to the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center and the two adults were transported to the Killeen City Jail awaiting charges.
