 3505 Canterdury Crash

Officers responded to a 911 call telling them a vehicle had just hit a house at the corner of Clairidge and Canterdury Dr. at 9:26pm, on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Upon the officers arrival they located a silver 2004 Chevy Tahoe, rolled over onto the driver’s side, in the fenced yard of 3505 Canterdury Dr. The officers located the owner of the residence and found that he was unharmed. They also located the driver of the Tahoe underneath the overturned vehicle and found that he was unconscious and not breathing. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arrived at the scene and pronounced 31 year old Roy Lee Brown of Killeen, deceased at 9:57pm.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Chevy Tahoe was traveling west on Clairidge Ave. at a high rate of speed, when the driver left the roadway colliding with a light pole at the intersection of Clairidge and Canterdury. The vehicle sheared the pole off and continued into the fenced area on the south side of the residence, taking out the fence and hitting the south side of the house. The vehicle then overturned onto its side pinning the driver under the vehicle.

The Chevy Tahoe was reported to be involved in a crash at the intersection of Jasper and Fort Hood St. at 9:21pm; the driver was fleeing the area from that crash just before he was involved in this deadly crash. There were no reported injuries in the hit and run at Jasper and Fort Hood St.
