Killeen Police Identify and Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect
Officers responded to 2201 Trimmier Road on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 9:18 a.m., after receiving a 911 call letting them know the 1st National Bank had just been robbed. Officers were advised a thin black male entered the bank and gave the teller a note that demanded money. He then fled on foot from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was last seen wearing dark colored clothing.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, Violent Crimes Unit, were able to determine the identity of the robbery suspect in this case. Based on the information developed by the Killeen Police Department, Ft. Hood Criminal Investigation Division and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force this case was reviewed by the US Attorney’s Office and a complaint was issued charging 21 year-old Marcus Delars Branson Jr. with Robbery. On Monday, December 11, 2017, Branson was taken into custody by Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Ft. Hood. Today, December 12, 2017, Branson was transported to the Federal Court in Waco by a Killeen Police Detective and an FBI Task Force Officer.

Wanted Man Located and Arrested
December 3, 2017 – UPDATE
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, Special Missions Unit, Burglary Unit and Violent Crimes Unit have been working on an ongoing investigation with the Federal Bureau of Investigations – Violent Crimes Task Force, Austin Police Department and Cedar Park Police Department. On Saturday, December 2, 2017, at approximately 5:04 p.m., 26 year-old Deon Lashawn Clay was located and arrested. Clay is currently in the Killeen City Jail.
The Killeen Police are requesting the community’s assistance locating a wanted man.
On Friday, December 01, 2017, detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, Special Missions Unit, were notified that a wanted fugitive with an outstanding warrant was traveling in a silver Chevy Impala.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on the Chevy Impala, at the intersection of Trimmier Road and Atlas Avenue. The female driver stopped the vehicle and stepped out, when the male passenger jumped into the driver seat and sped off with an 18 month-old infant in the backseat. The male suspect led officers on a short pursuit towards Safari Drive, when he stopped the vehicle and fled on foot.
The suspect is identified as Deon Clay, a 26 year-old black male. Clay was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and dark colored shoes.

Wanted Man Arrested after Police Chase
On Saturday, December 2, 2017, at approximately 4:01 p.m., officers and detectives with the Killeen Police Department received a call that the Copperas Cove Police Department was in a pursuit of a white Dodge Challenger traveling eastbound on IH-14 towards Killeen. Officers responded to the area of Clear Creek and IH-14 to assist. They located the vehicle in the area of Stan Schlueter Loop and Judson Street when the driver sped off and the pursuit continued. The driver led officers throughout the City of Killeen at a high rate of speed. Spike strips were successfully deployed at the intersection of Fishpond Lane and Weiss Drive, causing damage to the left front tire of the vehicle. The driver continued to drive towards Jasper Road and turned northbound onto Fort Hood Street. As the vehicle approached the intersection of Fort Hood Street and Rancier Avenue, a police unit successfully disabled the Challenger by striking it from behind causing the vehicle to come to a stop. The driver attempted to flee on foot but officers were able to taken him into custody at the scene after a brief struggle. No injuries were reported during this pursuit.
The suspect driver, 28 years-old Deon Lashawn Clay, was transported to the Killeen City Jail. Clay had several outstanding warrants to include Aggravated Robbery, Evading Arrest in a Vehicle and False Statement to Obtain Credit.
The agencies involved in this pursuit were the Copperas Cove Police Department, the Department of Public Safety State Troopers and the Killeen Police Department Patrol Division.

Killeen Police Identifies Victim and Suspect in Murder Suicide
Killeen Police have identified the female victim as 27 year-old Samaka Racheal Powell and the male suspect has been identified as her husband 31 year-old Raymond Deshawn Davis.

On Saturday, November 25, 2017, at approximately 11:53 p.m. Killeen Police were dispatched to the Valero at 1000 W. Stan Schlueter Loop in reference to a shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers located two deceased individuals inside the store, one male and one female. Investigation revealed that the female was the clerk at the Valero and the male was her husband. It appears that the male came into the store and after a brief domestic dispute with the female killed her and then killed himself.
Both subjects were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Killeen Police Arrest Five in Burglary of Habitation on Fieldstone
On Saturday, November 18, 2017, at approximately 1:08 a.m. Killeen Police responded to 2209 Fieldstone Dr. in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon their arrival, Officers made contact with a subject at the front of the residence who claimed to be a concerned neighbor. Officers then observed two suspicious vehicles in the area and made contact with the occupants of both vehicles.
The incident was recorded on the home owner’s video surveillance system, and during their contact with the occupants of the vehicles the officers were able to locate weapons as well as clothing items worn by the suspects in the video. Through subsequent investigation officers were able to determine that the subject who had been at the front of the residence as well as the occupants of both vehicles were all involved in the Burglary. Four adults were arrested and one juvenile was taken into custody for Burglary of a Habitation.
The four adults were identified as: Gjavion Smith-Williams (17), Davieon Reed(22), Jamal Marbury Jr(18) and Daquan Lavant (18). Bond was set by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at $100,000 for each suspect. All adult suspects have been transferred to Bell County Jail.

Killeen Police Arrest Two Suspects on Capital Murder Warrants
On Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at approximately 9:40 AM the Killeen Police Tactical Response Unit, operating in support of the Criminal Investigation Division, served two arrest warrants assisting the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force. The Task Force received information indicating that two suspects wanted for a homicide in Meridian Mississippi were potentially at an address in the 1100 Blk. of N. College St. in Killeen, Texas and requested our assistance in apprehending these two suspects. The suspects in this case were Donshay Meundre Sanders 20, and Dystiny Denice Davis 25. Both suspects had outstanding arrest warrants for Capital Murder and Armed Robbery as well as three counts of Attempted Murder.
Although both Sanders and Davis were reported to have very violent criminal histories, the Tactical Response Unit was able to locate, identify and arrest both subjects without major incident. In addition to the apprehension of both murder suspects, three additional individuals were taken into custody during this operation as well as the recovery of four handguns, two of which have already been confirmed as stolen, and a quantity of narcotics.

Killeen Police are investigating an early morning crash that occurred on Ft. Hood Road.
On Sunday, November 19, 2017, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Ft. Hood Rd. and Jasper in reference to a two vehicle crash. Upon the officers’ arrival, it was discovered that a silver Nissan Altima had been stopped at the red light in the northbound outside lane of Ft. Hood Rd. at Jasper when the second vehicle, a black Kia Forte, traveling northbound on Ft. Hood Rd. collided with the rear of the Nissan.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Dustin Corey Moore, the operator of the Kia, did not appear to brake or take other evasive maneuvers prior to colliding with the rear of the Nissan. Donald Christian Adu Larbi the driver and Tanya Evette Perry the passenger of the Nissan were pronounced deceased on scene at 4:10 a.m. and 4:11 a.m. respectively on Sunday, November 19, 2017, by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. Moore, who was the sole occupant of the Kia, was transported to Darnell Army Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this crash and information will be released if it becomes available.

Killeen Police Conduct a Shooting Investigation on Cedar Drive UPDATE
On Sunday, November 12, 2017, at approximately 2:10 p.m. Killeen Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Cedar Drive in reference to a 911 call about a shooting victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they found a male lying in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and suspect were involved in an ongoing dispute. At the time of the incident, the two began a verbal altercation when at some point one of the subjects’ discharged a firearm at the victim. The victim, 27 year-old Curtis E. Shelley of Killeen, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown at 4:52 p.m. An autopsy has been ordered to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensics Sciences in Dallas. Through the investigation detectives were able to identify the parties involved and the investigation is ongoing. The case will be sent to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for review.
UPDATE : All subjects in this incident have been identified. It was discovered during the course of the investigation that one of the parties involved is related to a Killeen Police Department employee, and therefore in the interests of transparency the Police Department has invited the Texas Rangers to review and assist in the progress of this investigation.
