KPD is Asking if Anyone Can Identify Robbery Suspect
The Killeen Police Department is asking if anyone can identify a Robbery suspect from this morning.
Killeen Police responded to the Star Mart Convenience Store located at 1310 W. Stan Schlueter, on January 9, 2017, at 6:51am, after receiving a 911 call telling them the store had just been robbed. As the officers were responding they learned that an armed light skinned black male or Hispanic male entered the store and demanded money from the clerk; he then fled the store on foot. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt under a black jacket, and gray sweatpants.
Detectives are asking if you can identify the suspect in the surveillance video to contact Crime Stoppers at 254-526-TIPS (8477) or go online at www.bellcountycrimestoppers.com. KPD to Discontinue Use of Old Telephone Numbers
The Killeen Police Department will discontinue use of old telephone numbers.
On January 15, 2017, the City of Killeen will discontinue the usage of 254-634-3111 and 254-526-8311. These telephone numbers were used to contact the Killeen Police Department for many years prior to now and were never discontinued when the new numbers were assigned. We are asking everyone who needs to contact the Killeen Police Department for a non emergency, to use the published numbers 254-501-8800 or 254-501-8830.
As always, you should still call 911 in case of an emergency.

Pursuit Ends with Arrest
Killeen Police arrest a wanted subject following a pursuit.
On January 4, 2017, detectives with the Special Investigation Division were conducting an active investigation on a wanted person in the area of N. Gray Street. Detectives located the subject, just after 3:00PM, driving a U-Haul pickup truck and attempted to stop the vehicle. When the vehicle refused to stop a pursuit ensued. During the chase the suspect attempted to lose officers by speeding through 2 school zones, the pursuit was called off each time the suspect entered the school zone, as a safety precaution for the children and community members in the area. The truck was located, parked in the 300 block of Hoover. The suspect was arrested in the 1600 block of N. Gray Street and transported to the Killeen City Jail.
This case continues to be investigated by detectives therefore the name of the suspect is being withheld at this time. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

KPD Asking for Community Assistance Identifying Robbery Suspects

The Killeen Police Department is asking if anyone can identify robbery suspects.
Officers responded to the Mickey’s convenience store at the 3800 block of E Stan Schlueter Loop on Monday, January 2, 2017, just after 5:30am, in reference to a robbery. When officers arrived they were informed that three black male entered the business, two of them armed with guns and demanding money. The males then exited the store, carrying a dark backpack with the word “PINK “on it, and fled on foot.
The first suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, shorts and dark shoes. One of the armed males was wearing a gray hooded shirt with a red shirt under it, blue jeans and white shoes while the other was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with dark sleeves, dark shorts and dark shoes.
During the investigation the detective was able to obtain a photo and video footage of the suspects in robbery. Killeen Police Asking If You Can Identify A Thief
The Killeen Police Department is asking if anyone can identify a thief.
Officers responded to the 3700 block of Appalachian Trail on Thursday, December 22, 2016, just after 11:30pm, for a reported stolen vehicle. The officers arrived and learned a black 2012 Ford Explorer had been stolen from the driveway. The owner advised no one had permission to use the vehicle.
On Friday, December 23, 2016, an officer with the Harker Heights Police Department attempted to stop a Ford Explorer for a traffic violation; the driver sped off and was able to elude the officer. The Harker Heights officer located the vehicle a short time later, abandoned and still running, in a parking lot in the 1500 block of E. VMB, Harker Heights. The officer advised three black males were seen running from the vehicle. The stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.
During the investigation the detective was able to obtain a photo of the suspect in the stolen vehicle. KPD Identifies Homicide Victim
Killeen Police identify victim from shooting.
Police identified the victim from the shooting that took place on Friday, December 29, 2016, at Parmer and 22nd St., as 40 year old Carman Latchie, of Killeen.

Killeen Police investigate early morning shooting at Parmer and 22nd Street.
Officers were responding to a call of shots fired in the area Parmer Lane on Friday, December 30, 2016, at 5:40am. As the officers were responding they were waved down by a passerby who saw a black male lying in the intersection of Parmer and 22nd Street. Officers arrived to find a black male who had been shot; he was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC) in critical condition.
The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 8:15am; he ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
Detectives with the Killeen Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, Homicide Unit continue to investigate this case. Information will be released as it becomes available.

Wanted Man Arrested in Austin
On December 31, 2016, detectives learned that John Eric Saenz was in the Austin area and they began working with members of the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force. After further investigation members of the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force were able to locate him during a traffic stop. Saenz was taken into custody without incident at approximately 8:00pm; he was transported to the Travis County Jail where he awaits extradition.

Killeen Police need help locating a wanted man who is believed to be Armed and Dangerous.
Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Bonnie Drive at approximately 11:11pm, on Friday, December 9, 2016, after receiving a 911 call in reference to shots fired. Upon the officers’ arrival they located 41 year old Jason Francisco Munayco with a gunshot wound. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced him deceased at 12:24am, on Saturday, December 10, 2016; he ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
Through the investigation detectives determined John Eric Saenz was at the residence during this shooting. This case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging Saenz with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke issued a warrant for his arrest and suggested a bond of $500,000. Detectives would also like to speak to him about his involvement in this Homicide.
This case continues to be investigated and information will be released as it becomes available.
