On Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at approximately 11:22 a.m., the Killeen Police Department received a 911 call in reference to a shooting victim in the 4500 block of Alan Kent Drive.  Officers arrived on scene at approximately 11:25 a.m. to find a five-year-old unresponsive male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.  EMS arrived shortly after the initial officers and all first responders attempted life saving measures on the child.  Justice of the Peace Daryl Peters pronounced the child deceased at 12:03 p.m. at the scene and ordered an autopsy to be performed.

The Killeen Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation into this incident and further details will be released once more information is available.

On Thursday, April 16, 2020, Killeen Police Department Officers responded to a residence in the 2600 block of Lazy Ridge Dr. regarding a shots fired disturbance.  After an investigation was conducted it was found that the male occupant had stepped outside of the residence brandishing a handgun and fired once into the air.  Officers were at the residence the hour prior for a criminal trespass violation, disturbance, with this same male occupant.  The male was identified as Trenton Xavier Manns, 25.

At approximately 3:48 p.m., the first two patrol officers arrived to investigate the shots fired disturbance call.  The officers began performing their investigation when Manns walked out of the front door of the residence and pointed a handgun at both officers.  Manns then retreated back into the residence.

After setting up a perimeter around the residence, the Tactical Response Unit was notified and responded to the scene.  During the callout, Manns climbed back and forth to and from the roof of the residence and shouted profanities at the officers.  Tactical Officers were able to take Manns into custody, at one point, when he exited from the roof into the back yard.  Manns was transported to Killeen City Jail.

Officers searched and located the firearm Manns had in his possession previously within the residence.  An expended shell casing was also located in the front yard.

On Friday, April 17, 2020, the Bell County District Attorney’s Office reviewed this case and issued two complaints charging Manns with two counts of Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant.  Manns was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke, who set his bond at $100,000 for each charge.  Manns is currently in the Bell County Jail.

On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at approximately 2:02 p.m. the Killeen Police Department responded to a motorcycle crash in the 5700 blk of South State Highway 195, Fort Hood Street.  Several witnesses called 911 about the crash.  Officers responded to the scene and requested investigators from the KPD Traffic Unit to respond to the crash scene.  It was found that the operator of the motorcycle, Courtney D. Williams, 27, was traveling southbound on the east side of 195 in the bar ditch area.  Williams was the operator of a 2009 Kawasaki 250cc dirt bike and was jumping the ditch culverts along 195.  Williams lost control of the motorcycle while landing and fell off of the motorcycle causing life threatening injuries.  He was not wearing a helmet.

Killeen FD personnel arrived on scene and provided medical assistance.  Williams was flown to Baylor Scott and White Memorial Hospital by helicopter.

On Saturday, April 18, 2020, Williams succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 10:15 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield.  No autopsy was ordered and the case is still being investigated by the Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit.

UPDATE-April 16, 2020

The first responding officer arrived at 11:17 p.m. to the address of the domestic disturbance. The officer exited his vehicle and approached the residence on foot.  The officer saw a single male occupant in a vehicle with its engine running.  The vehicle was in the driveway of the residence and the male occupant was reportedly part of the disturbance.  The male was identified as Brandon Antony Rogers, 35, from Killeen.  The officer gave verbal commands to Rogers, twice, for him to stop the car.  Rogers failed to comply and drove towards the officer. The officer discharged his weapon as he was avoiding Roger’s attempt to strike him with the vehicle.

Additional officers in the area located Rogers fleeing the scene.  A vehicle pursuit ensued and during the pursuit Rogers stopped, exited his vehicle, and fled on foot in the 1400 block of Van Zanten Dr.  Officers later located Rogers hiding in a culvert in the 1300 block of S. 2^nd St.  Officers realized that Rogers was injured and immediately notified EMS.

Rogers was transported to Baylor Scott and White with non-life threating injuries.  Medical staff reported that Rogers injuries consisted of two gunshot wounds, one to the left shoulder and another to the right arm.  Rogers was released from the hospital on the morning of April 14, 2020 and was transported to the Killeen City Jail.    

On Wednesday, April, 15, 2020, the Bell County District Attorney’s Office reviewed this case and issued two complaints charging Brandon Antony Rogers with Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant and Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle.  Rogers was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke and Rogers bonds were set at $250,000 and $50,000.  He is currently in the Bell County Jail. 

The officer involved, David Hoffman, has been with the department for 2 years.

This update is to clarify that the two suspects were in custody when the complaints were issued therefore, no warrants were issued by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.   

UPDATE – April 2, 2020

Through the investigation, detectives with the Homicide and Organized Crime Units were able to determine that this incident was a narcotics transaction.  Two suspects were identified and on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, this case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.  Complaints were returned charging De’Jauna Monte Williams, 18, and Cedric Vernon Henderson Jr., 19, with Murder.  Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke issued warrants for their arrest. 

Williams turned herself into the Police Headquarters and Henderson was located and apprehended in the 2000 block of Trimmier Road without incident.  Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned Williams and Henderson, setting their bond at $1,000,000 each.  Williams and Henderson are currently in the Killeen City Jail.

On Sunday, March 29, 2020, officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Hereford Lane in reference to a 911 call about a shooting victim at approximately 10:00 p.m.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a female lying in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound.  She was immediately airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in Temple in critical condition.

The 20 year-old female victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace David Barfield at 11:44 p.m. at the hospital.  He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

On Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at approximately 10:53 p.m., Killeen Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Old FM 440 Road in reference to a 911 call about a pedestrian hit and run crash.  Upon the officers’ arrival they located a male lying in the roadway.  He was immediately transported to Baylor Scott & White in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian walking in the roadway when a white two-tone Ford F250 or 350 pickup truck traveling northbound on Old FM 440 Road, struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.

Through the investigation, Officers with the Killeen Police Department, Traffic Unit, received information from a Crime Stoppers Tip that led to the suspect driver and vehicle.  On Wednesday, March 26, 2020, the Bell County District Attorney’s Office reviewed this case and returned a complaint charging Norlan Ricardo Perez-Corrales with Accident Involving Serious Bodily Injury – Fail to Stop and Render Aid.  A warrant was issued by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke and he set his bond at $200,000.  Perez-Corrales is currently incarcerated in the McClennan County Jail.

UPDATE – On Wednesday, March 24, 2020, this case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging Jovino Jamel Roy, 22, for Murder.  Roy was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke and set his bond at $1,000,000.  Roy is currently is the Bell County Jail.

Killeen Police Investigate a Late Night Shooting.

On Monday, March 23, 2020, officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Dustin Court at approximately 10:55p.m., in reference a 911 call about a shooting victim.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located an unresponsive male lying in the front of a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation that became physical.  During the altercation, the suspect fired several shots at the victim and fled the area.  Officers in the area located the suspect at a nearby convenience store; he was taken into custody and transported to the Killeen City Jail.

The victim, Michael Steven Wardrobe, 22, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Daryl Peters at 11:22 p.m. at the scene.  He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, Homicide Unit, continue to investigate this case and information will be released as it becomes available.
