Killeen Police Investigate a Shooting on Griffith Loop
Killeen, TX (March 26, 2025): On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at approximately 6:48 p.m., Killeen Police officers were dispatched to the 6100 block of Griffith Loop in reference to a shooting victim.
Upon arrival, officers found a 52-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim, Jahid Hombre Black, tragically succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced deceased at 7:23 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at the scene.
Three other males, ages 10, 12, and 18, were also in the vehicle. Two sustained gunshot wounds, while the third was injured as a result of the crash. All three were transported to local hospitals in unknown condition.
A 16-year-old male suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victims stopped in front of the suspect’s residence in a vehicle. All parties involved were known to each other. An interaction occurred, during which the suspect opened fire on the vehicle. The driver, the 52-year-old victim, attempted to drive away but crashed the vehicle approximately two blocks away.
Detectives believe this was an isolated incident and say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Killeen Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit continues to investigate. No further information is available at this time.

Killeen Police Investigating Incident Involving Two Students at Roy J. Smith Middle School
The Killeen Police Department, in coordination with the Killeen Independent School District Police Department, is actively investigating an incident involving two students that occurred during school hours.
Upon arrival, officers located a 14-year-old female student suffering from a stab wound. She was immediately transported by EMS to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition. Tragically, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 12:21 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a dispute between two female students escalated, resulting in one student stabbing the other. The 14-year-old suspect was taken into custody by a KISD Police Officer at the scene.
Due to the ages of both the victim and the suspect, the Killeen Police Department will not release their names.
We recognize the emotional impact of this incident on the victim’s family, students, staff, and the entire Killeen community. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we extend our support to those in need.

Killeen Police Investigate Single-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 195
Killeen, TX (February 25, 2025): At approximately 12:09 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Killeen Police officers responded to a rollover crash in the 16700 block of State Highway 195. When officers arrived, they found a white Ram 1500 on its roof in the grass off the main roadway.
Officers found four occupants inside the vehicle: a 23-year-old male driver, a 56-year-old female front passenger, and two boys, an 8-year-old and 2-month-old in the backseat.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the truck was traveling southbound when it left the highway. It then veered into a ditch, over a culvert, and rolled over before coming to rest on its roof.
The driver and the 8-year-old suffered serious injuries and are currently listed in critical condition. The 2-month-old did not appear to have any injuries.
Tragically, the front seat passenger, 56-year-old Natasha Harris, was pronounced deceased at the scene at 12:30 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson, who also ordered an autopsy.

Killeen Police Identify Victim From Fatal Crash
Killeen, TX (February 7, 2025): The victim of this fatal crash was identified as 67-year-old Betsey Rolston.
The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit and the Robbery/Homicide Unit conducted the investigation, determining that three individuals were inside the stolen Jeep at the time of the crash. Two male suspects, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old, exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended by officers after a brief pursuit. A third male suspect, also 15 years old, initially went unnoticed and fled in the opposite direction. Further investigation later led to his identification.
The 15-year-old and 14-year-old taken into custody are currently being held at the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center. Formal charges will be determined by the Bell County Juvenile Court at a later date. The case involving the other 15-year-old passenger is under review by the Bell County Attorney’s Office.
The identities of the juveniles will not be released.

At approximately 11:53 a.m., an officer identified a gray Jeep that had been reported stolen earlier in the day near the intersection of Veterans Memorial Blvd. and 10th Street. When the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply and continued traveling southbound on Trimmier Road.
The Jeep swerved into the northbound lane and, while attempting to evade, collided with a silver sedan traveling in the same direction. The impact caused the sedan to crash into a black pickup truck. Two male suspects, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old, exited the Jeep and began to flee on foot but were apprehended by officers after a short foot pursuit.
Tragically, the 67-year-old driver of the silver sedan succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman. The two other occupants of the sedan, along with the driver of the black pickup truck, were transported to Baylor Scott & White in stable condition.
During a search of the stolen Jeep, officers recovered two handguns.
This case remains under investigation and will be referred to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for further review.

Killeen Police are Conducting a Death Investigation
Killeen, TX (February 1, 2025): Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the death of a 39-year-old male.
On Saturday, February 1, 2025, at approximately 2:36 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Roy Reynolds Drive and E. Rancier Avenue in reference to a 9-1-1 call about a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. Upon the officers’ arrival, they discovered a male with apparent gunshot wounds. Officers began life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. He was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Community Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson pronounced him deceased at 3:28 a.m.
The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A SINGLE-CAR VEHICLE CRASH ON 38TH STREET
Killeen, TX: (January 29, 2025): One person is deceased after a single-car crash.
On January 29, 2025, at 2:58 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Veterans Memorial Blvd. (Bus 190) and 38th Street in reference to a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle partially on fire, and witnesses performing first-aid on the female. Officers began life-saving measures until Killeen Fire Department paramedics arrived. She was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Medical Center in critical condition.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a white Kia sedan was traveling eastbound on Veterans Memorial Blvd. at high speed when it veered off the roadway, colliding with multiple utility poles near the 38th Street intersection.
The 49-year-old driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at 4:17 a.m. at the hospital by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson, who ordered an autopsy to be conducted at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.
The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Pedestrian in Critical Condition Following Vehicle Crash
Killeen, TX (January 30, 2025): A woman remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning.
At approximately 2:48 a.m. on January 30, 2025, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call in reference to a vehicle crash near Central Texas Expressway and Weldon Way. Upon arrival, they found a female pedestrian lying in the roadway. Paramedics from the Killeen Fire Department provided medical assistance and transported her to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, where she remains in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a blue Kia two-door car was traveling eastbound in the 400 block of E Central Texas Expressway when it struck the pedestrian, who was reportedly standing in the outside lane. The driver stopped and called 9-1-1 to report the incident.
During the investigation, officers arrested the 29-year-old female driver at the scene for Driving While Intoxicated and outstanding warrants.
The Killeen Police Department’s Traffic Unit continues to investigate the crash. No further details are available at this time.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A MOTORCYCLE FATALITY ON STATE HIGHWAY 195
Killeen, TX (January 25, 2025): On Saturday, January 25, 2025, at approximately 1:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of State Highway 195 and Creek Place Drive in response to a traffic accident. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a motorcycle had collided with a pickup truck at the intersection.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a black Honda motorcycle was traveling southbound on SH 195. Witnesses reported that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving between vehicles.
A red Toyota pickup truck traveling eastbound on Creek Place Drive, was preparing to turn northbound onto SH 195, began to enter the median when the motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the truck.
The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old Fort Cavazos solider, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Nicola James at 2:16 p.m. She ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas. His name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the pickup truck did not report any injuries.
