NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A HOMICIDE ON LAURA DRIVE

Killeen, TX (September 25, 2025): The Killeen Police Department identified a suspect in this case as Yannie Kelvin Chishimba. On 09/24/25, the KPD Robbery/Homicide Unit was notified by the Texas Department of Public Safety they located a vehicle on the side of US Highway 190 in Lampasas County. Mr. Chishimba was located inside the vehicle deceased. After further investigation, it was revealed Mr. Chishimba died as a result of suicide.
No other information will be released at this time.

Killeen, TX (September 23, 2025): The Killeen Police Department is actively investigating the death of a 23-year-old following a shooting incident.
On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at approximately 1:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Laura Drive in reference to a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim deceased from a gunshot wound inside his residence.
The victim, Jaquarious Fenn, was pronounced deceased at 4:40 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was inside the home with the suspect when he was shot. The suspect fled the scene after the shooting. This is an ongoing investigation. This is an isolated incident.

Killeen Police Investigate Fatality Crash on Interstate 14
UPDATE: Killeen, TX (September 22, 2025): The motorcyclist who died in this crash has been identified as Jeffrey Pogany, 28. This investigation remains active and no further information is available at this time.
Killeen, TX (September 18, 2025): Killeen Police are investigating the death of a motorcyclist who was struck by a vehicle.
On September 18, 2025, at 4:17 a.m., Killeen Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a vehicle crash on westbound I-14 at the Trimmier overpass. Officers arrived and found that a motorcycle had been struck by a passenger car. The driver of the motorcycle was deceased on scene.
The KPD Traffic Unit responded to the scene and preliminary investigation indicates that a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle was travelling westbound on I-14, when it was overtaken and struck from the rear by a blue 2014 Honda sedan. Witnesses report that the Honda was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed when it overtook and struck the motorcycle. The Honda was being operated by a juvenile male at the time of the crash.
The 28-year-old male motorcyclist died at the scene. He was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Coleman at 6:32 a.m. No other injuries were reported.
This investigation is on-going and the interstate remains closed at the time of this release. We encourage the public to remain patient and choose alternative routes of travel, if possible.
