KPD Organized Crime Unit Raids Local Motel
Killeen Police raid local downtown motel for narcotics.
The Killeen Police Department Organized Crime Unit conducted several investigations over the past several months, into narcotics activity that had been occurring within various rooms at the Motel 7, located at 729 E. VMB. As a result of these investigations eight narcotic search warrants and two arrest warrants were obtained.
Today, Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at 5:30am, the Killeen Police Department Organized Crime Unit and Tactical Response Unit along with members of the Harker Heights Police Department executed the eight narcotic search warrants and the two arrest warrants at the Motel 7. Eight rooms were breached and seven arrests were made for various charges.
Detectives recovered four guns, an unspecified amount of narcotics and cash as well as stolen property. The charges range from Possession of Drug Paraphernalia to Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm to Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Controlled Substance.
This investigation has led to other ongoing investigations. The names and photos of the arrested subjects have been withheld until they have been arraigned on Thursday, February 11, 2016.

Near Drowning Victim Released From Hospital
Update – February 8, 2016
The 3 month old child was released from the McLanes Chilren’s Hospital on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, and is said to be in good condition. This case is due to be sent to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office this week; further information will be released as it becomes available.
Officers responded to the 3000 block of Bachelor Button on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at 11:21am, after receiving a 911 call in reference to a child that was unresponsive. Upon the officers arrival they located the resident performing CPR on a 2 month old male child. The officers continued with the CPR until Killeen Fire Department paramedics arrived and took over. The child was immediately transported by air to the McLane’s Children’s Hospital in Temple in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the homeowner/child caretaker was giving the 2 month old child a bath when she heard a noise in the area where the other toddlers were playing in the residence. The female left the child in the bathtub to investigate the noise and when she came back the 2 month old child was face down in the water.

KPD Arrests Woman For Injury To A Child
Killeen Police Department makes an arrest in an injury to a child case.
On 01/29/2016, KISD administration reported that an eleven year old child had suffered multiple injuries to various parts of his body. Killeen Police officers, along with Child Protective Services, responded to the school and began an investigation. The child was sent to the McLane’s Children’s Hospital for immediate medical treatment with the assistance of forensic nurses. The joint investigation revealed the child had suffered continuous physical abuse for a period of approximately five months. The child had sustained various injuries to his head torso, arms, legs and groin. The child’s mother was located and interviewed by Killeen Police Detectives. Through the investigation it was determined that the mother was involved in this abuse and she was subsequently placed under arrest and booked into the Killeen City Jail.
This case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was issued charging Raquel Madelin Callejas Ortiz with Injury to a Child; she is currently in the Bell County Jail under a $100,000 bond and a magistrate’s order of emergency protection was issued on behalf of the victim child.

KPD Needs Help Identifying Forgery Suspect
Killeen Police are attempting to identify a forgery suspect.
Officers filed a report on Friday, November 18, 2015, for a forgery that happened on Thursday, October 27, 2015. According to the victim, a female opened a fraudulent account with the 1st National Bank Texas using false identification. Immediately after opening the account the suspect cashed a forged check again using false identification.
