Killeen Police Officer Arrested for Assault with Bodily Injury
Killeen, TX (July 30, 2025): The Killeen Police Department received notification that a Killeen Police Officer turned himself in to the Bell County Jail on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, for an outstanding warrant for Assault with Bodily Injury – Family Member. The arrest was a result of an off-duty incident investigated by the Temple Police Department.
The Killeen Police Department has opened an Internal Affairs investigation, and the officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome. As a Civil Service agency, the Department is required to follow the local Civil Service Rules, which outline due process procedures for handling misconduct allegations, including those related to an employee’s pay status during the investigation.

Killeen Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Clear Creek Road
Killeen, TX (July 22, 2025): At approximately 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Killeen Police officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Clear Creek Road in reference to a major crash. Upon arrival, officers located a collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV. The motorcycle operator sustained critical injuries and was transported by Killeen Fire Department EMS to Advent Health.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a black Jeep SUV was traveling southbound on Clear Creek Road and attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot, when it was struck by a white Yamaha motorcycle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. The motorcyclist was ejected and thrown a significant distance.
Multiple witnesses reported that just prior to the crash, the motorcycle was traveling at a very high rate of speed, weaving through traffic and cutting between other northbound vehicles.
The motorcycle operator, identified as 23-year-old Colton Griffin, was pronounced deceased at 3:29 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Nicola James, who has ordered an autopsy to be conducted at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
The three occupants in the Jeep reported minor injuries.
The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate this fatal crash. No further information is available at this time.

Killeen Police are Conducting a Death Investigation on Eighth Street
Killeen, TX (July 16, 2025): Detectives with the Killeen Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit are actively investigating the death of a male.
On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at approximately 9:46 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of N. 8th Street in reference to an unconscious person. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased male inside a dumpster. The male did not have any visible signs of trauma. Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.
At this time, there is no known threat to the public, and the community is not believed to be in any immediate danger.
Detectives are asking residents and businesses in the area to check their surveillance footage for any people or vehicles in the area over the past two days. Killeen Man Arraigned on Animal Cruelty Charge
Killeen, TX (July 7, 2025): On Monday, July 7, 2025, the case involving 45-year-old Jeffrey Yuzon Ignacio, the suspect in the case involving the injured rescued dog known as“Dubz”, now Cyrus, was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office. A felony complaint was filed charging Ignacio with Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals. He was arraigned by Judge Cliff Coleman, who set bond at $100,000 for the charge.

Ignacio was also arraigned on the following outstanding charges:
• Evading Arrest – Bond set at $5,000
• Harassment (Repeated Telephone/Electronic Communication) – Bond set at $5,000
• Driving While License Invalid – Bond set at $3,000
Ignacio is currently awaiting transport to the Bell County Jail.

Killeen Police Identifies 22-Year-Old Shooting Victim
Killeen, TX (July 2, 2025) UPDATE – The Killeen Police Department has identified the homicide victim as 22-year-old Fredrick Lee Sanders Jr.
Detectives with the Robbery-Homicide Unit have identified a person of interest in this case. That individual is currently in custody on unrelated charges. However, the investigation remains active, and detectives believe there were individuals at the club who may have witnessed the incident.

Killeen, TX (June 29, 2025): The Killeen Police Department is actively investigating a shooting resulting in one deceased victim.
On Sunday, June 29, 2025, at approximately 3:25 a.m., officers were flagged down by Security Guards in the 2300 block of E. Central Texas Expressway. The security guards advised a male had been shot. Officers arrived and located a 22-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers began first aid until Killeen Fire Department EMS arrived and began life-saving measures. The victim succumbed to his injuries on scene and was pronounced deceased at 3:25 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Nicola James. She ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Victim Succumbs to Injuries Following Shooting on Hallmark Avenue
Killeen, TX (June 23, 2025) – UPDATE: The 18-year-old victim, D’Angelo Marquis Ramos, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 12:39 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, by Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey. He ordered an autopsy to be conducted at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Darnall Army Medical Center and later transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital where he is currently in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the victims were standing outside the business talking and socializing with two other males. A black male with a mask over his face, wearing all dark clothing was seen entering the parking lot on foot and he started to shoot multiple times. The suspect then got into a dark colored sedan and fled.

Suspect Arrested after Pursuit and Multi-Vehicle Crash
Killeen, TX (June 19,2025): On June 18, 2025, at 6:29 p.m., officers with the Violent Crime Action Team (VCAT) attempted to stop a white Subaru SUV involved in a narcotics investigation in the 600 block of S WS Young Drive when the driver fled, and a pursuit ensued towards south Killeen.
The suspect led officers southbound on Trimmier Road before turning east onto Lowes Boulevard. While fleeing on Lowes Boulevard, the suspect caused two crashes. The first involved minor damage to two vehicles exiting a parking lot. The suspect continued eastbound toward the intersection of Lowes Boulevard and W.S. Young Drive, where a second crash occurred involving a woman and infant in a Nissan sedan and a black Chevrolet pickup. The victims of the Nissan were treated at the scene by EMS and declined transport to the hospital. The driver of the pickup reported no injuries. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
Charges are pending through the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for Evading in a Vehicle and Delivery of Controlled Substance.
The investigation is ongoing and at this time no other information will be released.

Murder Suspect Located and Arrested
Killeen, TX (June 4, 2025) UPDATE: The 35-year-old murder suspect has been arrested and is currently in the Bell County Jail.
On Monday, June 2, 2025, Cecil Tamez Jr. was located in the 300 block of Cartwright Drive in Killeen and taken into custody. Tamez was found hiding under a mobile home and had attempted to conceal himself by burying himself in dirt. He was arrested and transported to the Killeen City Jail.
Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey arraigned Tamez on the Murder warrant and set his bond at $1,000,000. He was later transferred to the Bell County Jail.
The Killeen Police Department would like to thank the United States Marshals Service – Lone Star Fugitive Task Force for their assistance in this apprehension.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A HOMICIDE ON SUNSET STREET
Killeen, TX (May 22, 2025): The Killeen Police Department is actively investigating the death of a 28-year-old male following a stabbing incident.
On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at approximately 5:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Sunset Street in reference to a stabbing victim. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from a stab wound. Killeen Fire Department EMS responded and began life-saving measures. The victim was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The victim, Ondarien Jamaal Kelly, was pronounced deceased at 6:58 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield. He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the victim and suspect, who are acquaintances, were involved in a verbal altercation. During the dispute, the suspect grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene. This is an isolated incident.
On May 22, 2025, this case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging 35-year-old Cecil Tamez Jr. with Murder. Justice of the Peace Nicola James issued a warrant for his arrest.

Killeen Police Investigate Homicide from March Shooting
Killeen, TX (May 29, 2025): The Killeen Police Department is actively investigating the death of a 20-year-old female as a homicide following a March shooting.
On Friday, March 21, 2025, at approximately 10:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Bacon Ranch Rd in reference to a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim deceased from a gunshot wound.
The victim, Lucila Nair Nieva, was pronounced deceased at 11:02 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Nicola James. She ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
The preliminary investigation revealed the death to be suspicious in nature. On May 7, 2025, detectives received the final results from the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences indicating the manner of death ruled to be a Homicide.
