Killeen Police Arrest Murder Suspect

Killeen, TX (May 3, 2023): Through the investigation, detectives with the Robbery-Homicide Unit identified a suspect.

On April 30, 2023, Lewis Carl Hunt, 41, of Killeen was placed under arrest by the Killeen Police Department Criminal Investigations Division. This case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for review and a complaint was returned charging Hunt with Murder.

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, Hunt was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman and set his bond at $1,000,000. Hunt is currently in the Bell County Jail.

This investigation is ongoing and there is no other information at this time.

Killeen, TX (April 30, 2023): Killeen Police are investigating the death of a 42-year-old male.

On Sunday, April 30, 2023, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Killeen Police Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Old FM 440 in reference to a call of a gunshot inside of a residence. Upon officers’ arrival, they discovered an adult male, showing no signs of life, with an apparent fatal gunshot wound.

The male, Kenny Ray Morgan, was pronounced deceased at 4:24 p.m., by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson.

This is the third Murder for the City of Killeen in 2023.

No arrest has been made at this time.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division continue to actively investigate this incident and there is no other information at this time.

Killeen Police Conduct a Murder Investigation

Killeen Police Conduct a Shooting Investigation

Killeen, TX (April 28, 2023): Killeen Police are investigating a late-night shooting involving two victims.

On Friday, April 28, 2023, at approximately 12:42 a.m., Killeen Police Officers were dispatched to the 2900 Zephyr Road in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they discovered a woman and a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers started to perform life-saving measures until Killeen EMS arrived. The woman was transported by Killeen EMS to Baylor Scott and White Hospital Temple and is currently listed in stable condition. The man was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased, at 9:50 a.m., by Office of Justice of the Peace Nicola James.

The identity of the male has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

This is the second Murder for the City of Killeen in 2023.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Killeen Police Arrest Murder Suspect

Killeen, TX (April 10, 2023): Detectives have identified the victim as Va’Quintin Carmon Maestre of Killeen.

This case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for review and a complaint was issued charging 31-year-old Jarkell Jamal Dean with Murder. Justice of the Peace Duffield arraigned Dean and set his bond at $1,000,000. Dean is currently in the Bell County Jail.

Detectives continue to investigate this Murder and there is no additional information at this time.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A MURDER ON ATLAS AVENUE

Killeen, TX (April 8, 2023): Killeen Police are actively investigating the Murder of an eighteen-year-old male.

On Saturday, April 8, 2023, at approximately 1:17 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Atlas Avenue in reference to a shooting victim. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at 2:13 a.m.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

This is the first murder victim for the City of Killeen this year.

Killeen Police Charge Third Murder Suspect

UPDATE NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE CHARGE A THIRD MURDER SUSPECT

Killeen, TX (March 20, 2023): A third arrest has been made in the Murder of Jonathon Allen Hampton.

Through the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division Robbery-Homicide Unit identified a third suspect in this case.  The case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging 26-year-old Tyshawn Vincente Navarro with Murder.

Garza County Justice of the Peace Angela Massey arraigned Navarro and set his bond at $500,000.00. Navarro is currently in the Garza County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and at this time no other information will be released.

UPDATE NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE CHARGE A SECOND MURDER SUSPECT

Killeen, TX (February 13, 2023): A second arrest has been made in the Murder of Jonathon Allen Hampton.

Through the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division Robbery-Homicide Unit identified a second suspect in this case.  The case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and a complaint was returned charging 21-year-old Ahmad Elijah Jamel Demps with Murder. With the assistance of the United States Marshals Office – Fugitive Task Force and Officers with the Killeen Police Department K9 Unit and Organized Crime Unit, Demps was located and arrested.

Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson arraigned Demps and set his bond at $1,000,000.00. Demps is currently in the Bell County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and at this time no other information will be released.

UPDATE NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE CHARGE 21-YEAR-OLD WITH MURDER

Killeen, TX (February 7, 2023): A 21-year-old male has been charged with Murder of Jonathon Allen Hampton.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division Robbery-Homicide Unit investigated this homicide and presented the case to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.  A complaint was returned charging Antonio Trevon Edwards Hodges with Murder.  Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman arraigned Hodges and set his bond at $1,000,000.  Hodges is currently in the Bell County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and at this time no other information will be released.

UPDATE – September 18, 2020

Offense upgraded to Murder Investigation

On Wednesday, September 16, 2020, detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division were notified that the victim in this offense succumbed to their injuries. The victim is identified as Jonathon Allen Hampton, 24, of Killeen. Justice of the Peace Theodore Duffield pronounced Hampton deceased at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple. An autopsy was ordered to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest. The images are of an individual wanted for questioning related to this offense. This individual also owns, or had access to, the white Volvo S60 pictured in the security footage.

Killeen Police Investigate Aggravated Assault on Fairview Drive

On Monday, September 14, 2020, at approximately 2:19 a.m., Killeen Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Fairview Dr. in reference to a shooting. The victim, a 24-year-old male, was transported by helicopter to Baylor Scott and White in Temple. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head and remains in critical condition.

Detectives continue to investigate this case and more information will be released as it becomes available.

KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE AN AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

UPDATE  (December 23, 2022):  One of the victims in this shooting succumbed to his injuries at Baylor Scott and White Hospital.  Arreon Hughes, 18 years old, was pronounced deceased at 12:55 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Keith Reed.

Hughes is the twenty-first murder victim for Killeen this year.  Detectives continue to investigate this case.  There is no further information to release at this time.

Killeen, TX (December 22, 2022):  Killeen Police are actively investigating an Aggravated Assault in which two adult males were shot.

On December 21, 2022, at approximately 9:41 p.m., Killeen Police Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Lisa Lane in reference to a 911 call for shots fired. Officers arrived on scene and located a vehicle that had crashed into a fence, and the vehicle appeared to have been shot multiple times. The vehicle was occupied by three adult males, and two of the males had gunshot wounds.

Killeen FD EMS arrived on scene and provided medical assistance. One gunshot victim was transported by ambulance to Baylor Scott and White hospital in Temple, TX, and is currently in stable condition. The second gunshot victim was transported by helicopter to Baylor Scott and White Hospital and is currently in critical condition. The suspect vehicle, a red in color SUV/cross-over type vehicle, was last seen fleeing westbound on Atkinson Avenue.  No arrests have been made at this time.

NEWS RELEASE:  KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE A MURDER ON STETSON AVENUE

Killeen, TX (December 22, 2022): Killeen Police are actively investigating the murder of a 47-year-old female.

On December 22, 2022, at approximately 1:24 a.m., Killeen Police Officers were dispatched to a 911 call in reference to a shooting victim in the 700 block of Stetson Avenue.  Officers arrived on scene and located the victim outside in an unfenced backyard of a residence.  The victim had an apparent fatal gunshot wound.  Kila Nanette Spencer, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman at 3:26 a.m.  No arrests have been made at this time.

This is the twentieth murder victim for the City of Killeen this year.

Killeen Police Arrest Murder Suspect

Killeen, TX (November 18, 2022): 31-year-old murder suspect has been located and arrested.

Detectives with the Killeen Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit presented this case to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for review and a complaint for Murder was returned charging Kenneth Lloyd Carter. Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson issued an arrest warrant for Carter.

On Thursday, November 17, 2022, Kenneth Lloyd Carter was located and arrested in Humble, Texas. Magistrate James Callan with the Harris County Criminal Court 4 arraigned Carter for Murder setting his bond at $250,000.

The Killeen Police Department would like to thank the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Special Operations Unit, the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, and the U.S. Marshals Lonestar Fugitive Task Force for their assistance with the apprehension.

Killeen, TX (November 14, 2022): Killeen Police are actively investigating the Murder of a 34-year-old male.


On Sunday, November 13, 2022, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a 911 call in reference to a shooting victim in the 5000 block of Primavera Lane. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived.

The victim, Stepheno Rashad Gibson, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 5:15 p.m.

No arrests have been made.

This is the nineteenth murder victim for the City of Killeen this year.
