KPD Investigates Stolen Vehicle and Crash on SH201

Killeen Police investigate a crash on State Highway 201 involving a stolen vehicle.

CRASH

Officers with the Killeen Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop at approximately 4:15pm on Sunday, July 10, 2016, on a blue-green Nissan Sentra that had been reported stolen, occupied by 2 females and 2 males.  The driver, a 16 year old female, refused to stop and a pursuit ensued.  The driver led officers throughout the neighborhoods at a speed of 45 mph, towards Watercrest.  Once on Watercrest, her speed increased near 80 mph, she turned south onto Clear Creek Road.  When she reached the intersection of Clear Creek Road and Stan Schuelter Loop, she reduced her speed and one of the males in the right back passenger seat, jumped out of the vehicle. The driver continued south on SH201 at a speed of 90mph.  A DPS Trooper assisted officers by placing spike strips at the intersection of Maxdale Rd and SH201; the driver attempted to avoid them by slamming on her brakes.  She lost control of the vehicle, hitting the curb of the median, causing the vehicle to go through the median into oncoming traffic. She collided with the driver side of a silver Chevy Silverado pickup pulling a trailer, that was traveling westbound in the outside lane.  The impact pushed the pickup to the north side of the roadway and caused the Nissan Sentra to spin, coming to rest in the westbound inside lane facing east.

The male and female occupants of the Chevy Silverado were transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.  The male and female passengers of the Nissan Sentra were transported to Metroplex and the female driver who was pinned in the vehicle was removed by the Killeen Fire Department, was transported to Seton Medical Center; all with non life threatening injuries.

The names will not be released of those involved in this incident.

Detectives with the Killeen Traffic Unit are investigating the crash and detectives with the Auto Theft Unit are investigating the stolen vehicle.

Killeen Police investigate an afternoon Deadly Conduct on Veteran’s Memorial Blvd.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of E. Veteran’s Memorial Blvd on Monday, June 27, 2016, just before 4:30pm, after receiving a 911 call telling them a black male and a black female shot at the employees inside the shop.  As the officers were responding to the area, they were told the suspects fled in a gold Ford Crown Victoria and they were last seen traveling east on VMB.

An officer located a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle and was occupied by a black male and a black female but after further investigation, it was determined this was not the suspects involved in this incident.  The employees told the officers that the black male entered A Personal Touch Detailing asking for a male.  When the employees told him the male was not there he became upset, went to his vehicle and pulled out a handgun and shot at both employees.  The black male and the black female entered the gold Ford and as they were leaving, the female fired one shot at the employee.  No one was injured during this incident.

The officers searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle at the time.  At approximately 6:00pm, officers responded to the 1800 block of Cedarhill in reference to shots fired.  The caller advised a male in a gold Ford Crown Victoria shot at an apartment building and a vehicle.  The suspect fled the scene before officers’ arrival.  No one was injured during this incident.

The detectives believe both incidents are involving the same suspect.  After further investigation it has been determined these two incidents are not related to any other recent shots fired incidents.
