20-Year-Old Murder Suspect Apprehended

Killeen, TX (August 5, 2023): The Murder suspect, Amaun Brandell Gilbert is currently awaiting transport to the Bell County Jail.

On Thursday, August 3, 2023, the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force conducted a fugitive investigation which led them to Gilbert’s whereabouts in Copperas Cove, Texas. At approximately 5:55 p.m., Gilbert was arrested without incident in the 500 block of N. 1st Street. He was transported to the Killeen City Jail.

On Saturday, August 5, 2023, Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson arraigned Gilbert and set his bond at $1,000,000.

We would like to thank the community and the law enforcement agencies who assisted in this investigation.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division continue to investigate this incident and there is no other information at this time.

4th UPDATE NEWS RELEASE: SUSPECT CHARGED, WANTED FOR MURDER

Killeen, TX (August 2, 2023): Charges have been filed against the suspect wanted in the Murder of 24-year-old Richard Xavier Solomon that occurred on Sunday, July 30, 2023, on Rancier Avenue.

Detectives with the Robbery-Homicide Unit received a complaint from the Bell County District Attorney’s Office charging Amaun Brandell Gilbert, 20, with Murder.

Killeen, TX (August 1, 2023): Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division Robbery-Homicide Unit have identified the victim as Richard Xavier Solomon, 24, of Killeen.

July 31, 2023 – The Killeen Police Department Robbery-Homicide detectives are asking the community’s assistance in locating a person of interest, Amaun Brandell Gilbert, 20, wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting that occurred last night in the 3300 block of E. Rancier.

NEWS RELEASE: KILLEEN POLICE INVESTIGATE AN OVERNIGHT SHOOTING

Killeen, TX (July 31, 2023): Killeen Police are investigating the eighth Murder in the City of Killeen for 2023.

On Sunday, July 30, 2023, at approximately 8:54 p.m., Killeen Police Officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of E. Rancier in reference to a shots fired call. Upon the officers’ arrival, they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Killeen EMS arrived on scene and transported the male to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights; however, the man succumbed to his wound and was pronounced deceased at 9:47 p.m., by Justice of the Peace Nicola James.

The identity of the male has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

No arrests have been made at this time.
